Default 2004 Mazda Genki

Hi Fadi,

My eldest daughter has the above car with factory fitted head unit, 4 speaker and 6 stack CD player. She initially asked if I could fit a sub, but has since changed her mind (sigh) She now wants USB connectivity for the iPod as the factory speakers are fine for the moment!

Can supply pics of the head unit when she gets off her behind.

I've heard, maybe wrongly that there is a cigarette lighter powered USB input for iPods that transmits a signal to the FM band on the head unit so you can play through that. Her factory system has no Bluetooth.

I'm not ****ing in your pocket for advice - I'll buy off you.

If I have to change out the head unit, then so be it - rather not though, the last head unit I fitted was in an XF.

Cheers!

Further to my last post Fadi, here's what I'm dealing with, personally don't like the look of it - it's gonna be a drama for me. DIN head units are fine, but this integrated dash crap will cause me no end of grief for a novice with the newer cars - I dunno where to start?

Cheers!

I bought a cheap unit of Ebay that does this. Plug into ciggy lighter and use a USB or SD card loaded with music. Emits the signal on an unused FM band that you can then tune into using your car radio.

Never used it - even had a remote control. Cost all of $10 delivered.

Seeing as the guys at ASL can't help this may be an option? I'm sure you can buy a better quality unit from a local mob that does the same function? Try Dick Smith / Jaycar / Strathfield Car Radio etc.

Thanks for your input Fadi and Jason.

I think I've found a few cig lighter/USB/FM transmitter/adaptor gizmo's, however there's different ones for different phones. Apple/Samsung/HTC etc - sweet.

Sweet but not simple in having a 20yo fashionable daughter, it's gotta look alright too.

I asked her what phone she had. Samsung S3, but I'm probably changing to an Apple I6 in a couple of months she replied.

This is gonna be a hard task - fmd, she's got a younger sister as well - I'm doomed!

Cheers!
