Its that time of year again, and I have been asked if the FTF Car Club would once again like to participate, and put our cars on display, for general public viewing.
Sunday 16th October Mater Dei Country Fair. Car Display. - 9:00am to 3:00pm 229 Macquarie Grove, Camden. Meet: Harry’s Café de Wheels next to Mc Donald’s – Viscount Pl Orange Grove Time: 7:00am Depart: 7:30am As with last year, we have been asked to use the drink and food facilities at the Country Fair, as the BBQ stall is one of the main money earners on the day. This is more a social day for the family, with a car display, not a show... so no trophies. Previously we have had a good showing, with many club members leaving the site with goodies purchased from the various stalls within the site. Attending - 1) Sierra63

Another glorious day, and another successful FTF Car Club event...
After meeting up at Harry's Cafe De Wheels at Liverpool, a small convoy, including the trailer headded off down Camden Valley Way. Once arrived, all hands were on deck, and the cars, tables, shade, chairs etc were all very quickly in place, and many were then cleaning up their cars, for the club display. The Rotary club were on hand to provide breakfast, in the form of bacon and egg sandwiches, along with steak and sausage for the rest of the day. Other food stalls included drinks, ice-cream, strawberries and cream, and not to forget the Devonshire High Teas, with tea and scones (not forgetting the cream and jam). Many stalls were also on hand to relieve the strain on many a persons wallet, with a growing mountain of bags, plants, food, fruit; gathering in the shade of the club trailer and canopy. THEN - one (to be unnamed) individual turned up with kids... and then supplied one of these kids with a water pistol... I can leave the rest to your imagination. Once open warfare had broken out, one of the bigger kids went for reinforcements, and she returned with a super-soaker, which kind of put the original water pistol to shame..... oooopps. That was it, there was an immediate assault raid on the recently discovered munitions storage depot, and after some casualties to closely guarded money stocks, super soakers for many.... With several re-supply missions, to nearest tap, much 'clean' fun was had by many, along with a couple of innocent civilian casualties, catching friendly fire, but luckly received in good spirit. Many raids were held on the 'Chocolate Wheel' stock of supplies, as usual the 'Chocolate Wheel' was heavily defended, by soldiers on bright orange uniforms, taking heavy load (of cash), from many unsuspecting victims. After many unsucessfull and expensive attempts by members of the FTF Car Club, sometimes on mass, several sucessfull return on investements were earned, and returned to the camp carrying their spoils of war... However, as usual, after many wounds, some terminal, to the many purses and wallets, it was time to retreat from the war zone. Many hands made light work, to de-camp, and get everything back into the trailer, and shackled back to the tow vehicle, and the troops dispursed to the many corners of the region...................... My thanks to one and all, to what I think was an enjoyable day, with great weather on our side, with warm sun and a slight breeze... My personal thanks to all who attended, and hope we can do it again next year.

Dear All,
Here is the Goss from the school...... from the latest school letter The 2011 Mater Dei Country Fair was again an outstanding sucess, raising an unbelievable $25,000. The weather was perfect and the atmosphere was abuzz with activity. This outcome would not have been possible without the dedication and hard awaord of a handfull of perople who work tirelessly all year, and the volenteers who did a fantastic job on the day. I won;t name individuals as I am sure to miss someone, but many many thans to you all for ensuring this Mater Dei tradition continues to get better each year. Next year the Country Fair will be held on Sunday 14th October 2012, so put it in you diary an tell your family and friends. My personal thanks to the members of the club for the continuing support of this event, and this was now the third one that the club had attended, bringing along a collection of cars, and presenting a display, all contributing to the atmosphere on site.
