Default Holiday Destinations

To lighten the mood in here a bit with all the China/Covid talk, tell us where would you like to travel to when we can, or what trips were cancelled due to Covid. Hey it could be local or overseas, we had a trip back to the States planned plus down to Cabo San Lucas Mexico which Covid put a stop to, but Charliewool has got me intrigued with Costa Rica which i'm putting on the to do list. Also plan on exploring Aussie some more, which is probably the most realistic thing we will be able to do in the not to distant future. It's good hearing other peoples views on places to go.
Cheers..

Talking Re: Holiday Destinations

Not China!

But without jokes, my wife and I had been planning our first big overseas trip for 2021, heading to the USA. Not only can we not go, but I am glad we are not going and it is distressing to not know how long it will be before we feel comfortable traveling there (or many other places).

So talk has turned to another roadtrip up to the northern areas of our great country.

Just a few places missus and I have been, while not going to places that are not Australia or NZ.
If you don't know where these places are, do yourself a favour, find out and spend money in Australia by going to see them.

were supposed to go back to Europe last Easter to meet up with family. Rebooked for Christmas and then cancelled. No idea when we will travel now which is a but sad with the oldies in their 80s and all a bit crook.

Didn't loose a penny from the flights and accommodation so that was cool but ironically our travel insurance withheld 25% for doing absolutely nothing. They didn't even cover us for Pandemic. Money grabbing scum.

we we're meant to be on a 6 night cruise from Adelaide to Auckland and then spend 8 days travelling throughout NZ when Covid hit here, glad we cancelled.
Right now we we're supposed to be on a 7 night cruise from Adelaide around Tassy and back but that got cancelled too, so instead we sold our camper trailer, bought a caravan and have just spent the past week at West Beach.

30 year holiday up and down the Eastern States and NZ, never thought of it as working.

Gives me the cold shivers to think about being trap in one place all year to have the allocated 4 weeks annual leave.

That's handy, if you run out of milk or sugar you can duck home to get some

Champagne comedy good sir but in reality you're not far off the mark and lets be honest, with top class facilities and a beach within a stones throw you could be in any coastal park in the country minus the travel expense.

no offence but Bent_8 but when you do plan to return, narrow your horizon, having lived there and wish I still did, Id be spending your 8 days no further south than Taupo, Rotorua then northwards.

then plan splitting south Isl into 2 visits. seriously there is just so much to see & enjoy.

We had a month long NZ North Island holiday planned.
When we left Oz, COVID was something in China, other side of the world, not our problem.
That changed very quickly, and we had to get back home ASAP, forfeiting a number of planned and prepaid activities..
The travel insurance claim occupied a bit of my retired time, and after 6 months of back and forthing, knockbacks and disputes, eventually got enough $$$ back to satisfy me.

Was meant to be in Vietnam during most of April, and Singapore for 10 nights in September, going to their respective F1 races during these trips too. Shattered.

I did have a holiday planned for outback & eastern coast of QLD for 2021 but with all the uncertainty of border shutdowns and the east coast being booked heavy I decided to visit Tassie for 4 weeks to see what I missed last time; all booked and this will be my overseas holiday....lol
I'm not the one for international travel but prefer travelling all over Oz.

Tassie.

Best State by far for scenery, accommodation and food/wine.

Private and special.

Quiet too, not full of idiots like Melb and Sydney which are both ****holes.

Kalgoorlie WA.
We went there there for the Red Dust Revival, a nostalgia recreation at Australia's oldest known race circuit. Thought a week would be enough but we only just scratched the surface.
So much history, so many pubs, watching the blasting at the super pit, museums etc. Then theres the surrounding towns.
I get bored easily and like to keep moving but we're planning a whole month out there next time.

I'll tip my hat to your Grandparents next time I'm in town.
The Revival is held every few years or so. It's definately a petrol head bucket list item.
See you there...

Well thats your POV MT or taking the **** who knows with you tbh.
I've seen A Holes every single place I've gone to north south east west in this country incl islands where your from.
You only have to hang around Hobart for 2-3days for starters to see they are everywhere.
Silly comment.

Been a traveller for business OS and all round our country for 30+ yrs.
Love it all no matter where I am or with the family on hols.
OR I'm just happy staying home for hols and driving to our great northern beachs of Sydney that is 15mins away for us.
Everywhere is gold when on leave, just depends on your attitude and outlook.
Enjoy where ever you are fellas, its a wonderful world even during covid, forces those buckets loads of people to see our beautiful country for a change.

My favourite place to holiday in Australia is in NSW on the mid north coast, Scott’s Head. About 4 hours north of Newy, far enough from from home to fully escape day to day life but an easy drive even for a weekend. Been there 3 times in the past 2 months and been going there often for 30 years. Quite town, decent waves, bowling club and not much else. Perfect. Overseas holiday, can’t go past the snow in Japan. Was hoping to make my 4th trip there early next year but probably won’t be venturing out of aus anytime soon.
