Taking delivery of this car today, it has done 128k and is getting due for the timing belt change. I rang Ford and was quoted $600, does this sound right as for some reason I was expecting more. Can someone tell me what actually gets changed, Thanks

It's a relatively simpler job on the diesel than the petrol so that quote is about right. Have a read of Section 303-03C in the LT Focus WSM we have in our tech portal as the engine in yours is not dissimilar to the Duratorq in that model.
Cheers Russ

I have the Fiesta WP Duratec 1.6 Ltr Petrol version and had the timing belt done recently @ 110,000 klms. Ford states that the timing belt should be changed @ 150,000 klms but most automotive specialists argue that 80,000 is the mark for timing belts.

I just replaced an original 2009 @ 190,000 kms. The belt was in very poor condition, but the bearings and water pump were perfect. I would argue time is more important than kms. The original recommendation is 10 years I believe, and this is pushing it.
