Default Hooning Punishment

I check Warwick News quite often, and find the Judges to be out of touch with reality. Ive seen everything from wife bashings, to multiple car thefts used in robberies only to be slapped on the wrist

Now hooning isnt as bad as the previously mentioned, BUT i do know that people who are caught face massive fines and loss of licence. Apparently not in this case, gotta love the reasoning behind the doughnuts, and why the judge let him keep his licence

http://www.warwickdailynews.com.au/s...-dad-in-court/
Quote:
A YOUNG father caught hooning with his two-year-old child in the car will work off the debt incurred by his reckless behaviour.

Travis Raymond Scheibel fronted Warwick Magistrates Court this week and pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention.

On the morning of May 20, an unmarked police car observed Scheibel hooning on Wood St.

The court heard Scheibel's black Holden sedan revved excessively, before flipping around in a 180-degree manoeuvre and facing back in the direction from which it came.

The 26-year-old again revved his engine, causing his wheels to spin.

The car was impounded for 48 hours following the incident.

Defence solicitor Phillip Crook told the court his client had just got the car and had not adjusted to its V8 engine and heavy pedals, resulting in his bad driving.

Mr Crook asked the court to take into consideration the fact that his client was dependent on his licence, as he needed it to get his child to day care each day.

Magistrate Graham Lee noted the Cottonvale man's "bad" traffic history and ordered him to complete 25 hours community service

So after he gets used to the V8 and heavy pedals he will be doing better donuts? a 180 isn't very impressive, but I will accept his excuse for not completing a 360.

So what, that doesnt sound dangerous in the slightest! Doing 60 through the CBD of any city is more dangerous than a slight wheelspin, or quick u turn!

Probably shouldnt say, but my 2 year old loves doing "circles" and making heaps of dust in the paddock! Have you seen Roary the racing car? (a hooning racing car and his hooning car mates that hoon around doing donuts on normal roads/beaches/ race tracks etc etc!) Thats hilarious! Would be banned if the Govt/cops noticed it! No wonder 2 year olds love a few donuts!

I enjoy hearing of hoons cars being crushed in front of them. Sadly, it doesn't happen enough. Why are the courts so lenient on these morons??

When they start crushing thieves hands then I might agree with you. But really crushing cars and such like is absolutely ridiculous and way beyond any reasonable penalty. The wowsers make me sick. Dropping a smoky is no big deal. I love almost everything about this country but the wowser element is getting way out of control and it needs to be stopped before we are not allowed to do anything.

What do you suggest as an alternative then mate? Here, i'll save you the trouble and draft up a proposal for the pollies to consider.

Quote:
Section 2a: Motorists are permitted perform random burnouts and/or full or partial doughnuts only if all the below apply

a) motorist feels that there is sufficient road space to perform the maneuver

b) driver of vehicle must be in their own opinion, totally awesome

c) other vehicles must know exactly what driver intends to do, and must give way to tank slapping vehicle

A fine and points for being silly enough to get caught. There is no way a bit of wheelspin should attract a bigger penalty than failing to give way, going through a red light, causing an accident through lack of attention etc. etc.
You cause an accident that hurts someone and your car doesn't get crushed...

Umm... I think having a 2yr old in the car outstrips the stupidity of doing 180 skids...

And his argument is that he needs his license to take his 2yo to daycare!?!? Can't believe he thinks the judge is gonna put a 2yo at danger again.

Wanna tell me what he had to gain out of doing the burnout? and yes doing it with a two year old in the car makes it even more stupid. I don't know what I would be more embarressed about, the act of idiocy or standing in front of a judge and admitting to being a moron.

Could this clown not have dropped the kid home then proceed to be a moron on the streets without the child inside ???
Reckless and stupid, no need for it on the streets, with or without kids in the car, these bogans make all car enthusiasts look bad

I'm a tad more maternal than most people I know, so if I ever did something like this I'd expect the book to not just be thrown, but fired from one of those navy railguns at my face.

Putting yourself in danger is one thing, putting a 2yo child in danger is another.

I can enjoy a good burnout etc, I'm not saying I've always been a saint myself, but there is a time and place.

I get your point, but at least that's a controlled environment.

You'd hope he wasn't just being a spanner... but no...

It's very hard to argue against the do gooders. Speeding/Hooning is against the law and to support it is difficult. But of course we all know and have felt like the authorities use a sledgehammer to kill an ant.

We all know of examples of stupidity the give the authorities some form of justification for coming down on the rest of us.

Doing a 1/2 a donut with a 2 year old is unacceptable. So where is the line? 16, 12, 8, 6 ? where is the line. I'm not sure.

Perhaps its just simpler not to do a skid with the kids in the car.

I used to work for emergency services, go ask any of the ambos how 'scarred' he'll be the one time it goes pear shaped.

Nanny state bs aside, he was being a nob, got caught, they let him off.

Im all for crushing hoon cars... If we get to shoot thieves. I got booked for speeding, not too long after having my house robbed. Guess who got the worse punishment. Makes me sick that if you steal peoples stuff, you still get off lighter then the honest bloke enjoying his car. I would be alot more dirty about it if i actually got done with a hooning offence.
