Default Intercooler on an AU XR8

Has anyone here put an intercooler on an xr8 with a stock front bar?

I had a look down the front and there is F#@! all room.

I really want a cooler, but im thinking i may have to do the front bar to accomodate it.

Anyone that has done it or knows of it, please include some details on size, piping designs etc.

Cheers!

Hotdbz had a large on crammed behind a pursuit bar.. basically the same thing. It fit pretty easy too apparently.

If your talking about the car that Casper posted, it has a Garrett GT40 roller bearing turbocharger.

11.81 @ 120mph 1/4 mile

More specs can be found HERE

Had an AUII XR8 BnS ute come through work before christmas, had an intercooled CAPA vortech setup. Intercooler appeared to fit quite nicely, cleared the front bar and mounted very tidily could hardly notice it behind the big alloy 5 posta bull bar.

do you know the specs on the cooler?

um, i havent had it dynoed yet guys. i wanna get the cooler setup going.

id prefer to leave the front bar as is, as i dont really wanna fork out for a bodykit.

The cooler on that car wasnt very big. 2.5 inches thick, it was about the size of a 450*300 core. It was on the list to be upgraded if I wanted more power.

Yeah mate, I bought it. I did some more mods, raced it then had to sell because I barely drove it and couldnt get insurance. It got sold and moved to QLD.

It has a new engine and freshened trans. I also replaced the turbo before it left so it should be pulling better numbers but I havent heard any more news on it since.

No unfortunately it was only in the workshop for half an hour, it had half the standard XR front bar. Imagine a drawing a line around your front bar where that recessed groove is (sits just above the in bar indicators) below this line was replaced by the bull bar.
Couldnt tell you the specs but approx 600 wide X 350 high X 45-50mm deep thats from memory too, but hopefully it is some use to you.

Hmm Yeah K.

Id Say There Would Need To Be Some Cutting To Make It Fit. Theres Certainly No Room There For Anything.

Herrods built/used a special intercooler for the Minginator -but then it was only a "bit" supercharged.

But it won't fit in an XR bumper, the T3 opening is bigger, unless he puts on an XR50 bumper.

i havent had the car dynoed yet, but the previous owner said it pulled 365 rwhp.

that was on 6 psi.

i would suggest with a cooler and 12 psi should be pushing 500 rwhp.
