Just wanted to share an experience i had on the weekend with you all.
i attended the Biggenden Auto Spectacular on sat 11th and had an absolute ball, saw some fine cars, meet some good people and enjoyed showing my car with the Maryborough Ford car club Inc. which i am a member of. Anyways, we had people coming up to look at the car all day, but by far the best part of the day for my was as my car sat in the line up for the dyno. this young fella came along..woulda been 12 or 13 (sorry if you read this and i guessed wrong). he was busy taking pics on his phone when i asked if he wanted to hop in for some better photos of my dash and stereo. his eyes lit up at the thought that he would be able to sit in my car. to me it was a fairly simple thing...it's only a falcon after all. but to him it meant a lot, he procceded to tell me that his dad had one similar and that my car "looked awesome". Well, all went well until after my dyno run (i pulled 151.9 HP nearly beat my mates 302 xc : ) when young fella came along again. "what'd she run?" asked he...so i told him...."oh, my dads VCT pulled 156HP" well what could i say? at least he was polite and pointed out it was a VCT. hehe anyway he gets my vote for the best ever car show fan, purely for being a polite, friendly young man.....who also has great taste in cars.

good to see their are some polite kids about , probably somehing to do with being a FORD fan .
i went over to Biggenden on satdy too. just as a spectator. they had a good rollup of quality cars there. was a good day. ummm.... did you see the local news tonight on "7" ? i only saw the end of a story but looked like the gold Centurer from the dyno shoot out in a bit of bother.

That is a fantastic story and thanks for sharing it.
It is awesome when the younger kids come up and are excited about cars but I think the best part is how you have said about him being so polite. That is a massive credit to his family as some kids just don't have a clue about how to behave out in public (or at home). I hope we have some good things happen like that at the next show we are all at as I can honestly say some of the things I saw some young kids get up to at the Cleveland Show were horrific (the adults weren't much better). Well done on sharing and congrats to the family and the young lad for being such a great person

i only saw the end of a story but looked like the gold Centurer from the dyno shoot out in a bit of bother.[/QUOTE] i missed the news story but my mate told me its was somehow confiscated in relation to raids on bikers properties? which reminds me of the only low point of the day- while i was in the dyno line up a 'heavily intoxicated individual" decided to take it upon himself to roar onto the burnout pad and drop a few skids- totally uninvited...... as he left he nearly cleaned up the side of my falcon : ....i dunno what i woulda done if he hit it...he was too big a lad for me to take on. worst part was the officials did nothing to get him off, would have been interesting if he hurt himself or someone else

(twice). i could not believe that nobody stopped him . the dyno guys and the guy on the PA stopped to have a look and just shook their heads. i know that the guys running the dyno were not running the show but their must have been some officials there somewhere. i have had a lot of experience with organising car shows simillar to that one at Kandos in NSW and it is that kind of stupidity that can close a good show down for good. if that happened at Kandos he would have been escorted from the grounds and if there was any trouble the boys in blue would be there in a flash to take care of him . another thing that made me wonder was the small size of the burnout pad and lack of safety barriers. just a wire rope up 2 sides. i dont know how they get insurance with a set up like that ? after what Kandos club had to go through .

other then that i thought it was a great event, it was the first time i have been and i was very impressed with the quality of cars there and its a good location with plenty of room and facillities. would be good if they built a full size burnout strip down behind the tractor pull area. would only cost about $$$ ??????? : but it would be worth it in the long run as it take the show to a new level and pull the spectator crowds as well as a lot more entrants . back to your original topic for the thread.... to both you and the young bloke for showing the better side of the sport. :eclipsee_

yep i figure the kids are the future and we are is some ways representitives of the cars we love and the way of life we all enjoy. if we can all do some small thing to promote the better side of the hobby, maybe teens won't be so quick to go out and do the yobbo things like we all hear about so often.
