Default what the hell...XP thing

ok my computer is due for a formatt soon anyway, but just before I downloaded an update from the auto-update thing with windows. Wet to restart the computer and then it boots up saying that I have a copied version of windows!

I dont know how that happened....:newangel:

Obviously I can just click on the later option and continue to use it, but its rather annoying.

Does anyone know of a "program" that gets rid of this update?

I cant even uninstall the update as there is no option for it in add/remove (normally with updates you can).

Sligh Mr Gates!!! : So anyone else found a way to "get rid of the problem"

Cheers.

there is a .dll which can be downloaded and put into the 'sytem 32' folder. it will remove all the warnings. happened to me today. though i don't have the link to it here with me.

Yeah I saw that update last night. I was like WTF?!? Why do I need to waste my time downloading some program that I KNOW I CANT uninstall to tell me that I have a legit version of Windows. People who have a "backup" copy already know theirs is a "backup" and the legit people know its legit. A total waste of download.

they call it 'Windows Genuine Adantage'. basically anyone using a backup of windows will be constantly reminded that they 'could be using an illegal copy etc' .

just search up 'Windows Genuine Advantage Validation'.
I have found it on a few torrent sites

Bah... a total waste of time. Crackers have already found a way around it... and it was released last night!! They should have put the effort into working on Windows Vista so they would make that release date.
