I have to get a blue slip for change of records to finalise my turbo conversion.
What are they (mechs) actually looking at in this inspection? Any help would be appreciated.

Firstly they will do a check on the engine and chassis numbers to prove the identity of the vehicle. After that it's basically the same as a pink slip so if any mods are done that require an engineers certificate you will need to supply one. Once you have the blue slip and the engineers certificate go to the RTA who will issue your registration and take a copy of the engineers certificate for4 their records. Your registration lable will have a code that indicates that an engineers certificate has been issued for the vehicle.
If you need a good Engineer I can recommend Bal Dohnt in Dubbo. (but dont try and pull the wool over his eyes, he's seen it all) Regards, Tote
