recently in sydney i have noticed an increase in undercover highway patrol cars . they are BF XR6's in white and silver with tinted windows and they are pulling many an unwary drivers up for traffic offences . just thought i'd let you know . beware , they are unmarked and unsuspecting.

It would be nice to think that one day. maybe we could just not be so hung up on speed detection and cameras. Australia the anus state.

I'm ok with speed cameras etc that any alert driver can see and take note of their speed at but its the hidden behind trees and in bushes etc that are purely revenue raises - they dont make you aware of your speed until weeks later when the fine arrives. |

stripes are now common saw a shockwave one in N/Sydney last week..
only way to pick them is illegal (how ironic) dark dark tinting... see the tint, steer clear...

tis weird eh, you pass one coming the other way or sit behind one and i'll say to my missus "thats a copper" before she recognises it. i don't know if its growing up around cops all my life ( my old man was a military cop) or from being booked :Reverend: but its a weird feeling that you know its 99% chance its an unmarked. ooooweeeoooo :

Iv seen the red commodore with them but didnt believe it until my mate got pulled up by them and it was in the local paper yesterday. Is that legal ??? They play games with people they want to pull over. Overtaking then slowing right up and trying to race off the lights etc etc They are really stooping low now : |

In any case, IF you can show me the legislation that prohibits them from wearing a P plate when they are not P plate license holders, then we might have complaint. The same legislation will apply to you too. Quote:
NB - Those of you in the habit of driving around with front fog lights on full-time will notice more attention being paid for this offence. My local pulled up two offenders within 20 minutes yesterday:-)

This happens to me everyday because of the car I drive, and I do ignore it and get on with life, doesn;t excuse the performance of the police officers. Much like our Members of Parliment, think they are above the law......

I refuse to bite back at this cause you simply have taken this the wrong way! We build beautiful cars and we are harrassed for driving them. Im not in the habit of driving like a tool but am still simply harrassed for the car i drive. I was simply stating it is in unfair that they are stooping to a new low and playing games waiting for drivers the make the slightest mistake and turning it into something big. I was under the impression that it was illegal to display P plates when you hold a full licence... i could be wrong too that was just my understanding. I was also under the impression that the requirement for the highway patrol was to have a full licence.... could be wrong again though. Im not in the habit of driving with my fog lights on, they are actually disconnected. Im not here to start a war, i was simply putting my 2cents worth into a hot topic that affects all of us car enthusiasts. Cheers, Chad |

well, i might go check out the goverment auctions next year then, try pick myself up a nice little x cop xr6 or xr8.
On the comment on speed cameras as revenue raisers. Yes they are, but look at it this way lets say we get rid of cameras and speeding tickets. Then thats a big junk of money removed from the police force budget, how will the goverment pump more cash into the police you ask?? Take it out of the tax payers dollar which in turn will lead us to pay a higher tax. So either the people that do the wrong things on the road - speeders etc - help pay for the police or everyone pays. I'd much rather it was the people that speed contriute more than i do as well ye. Just my 2 dollars. Pat |

Well there are those that get caught and there are those that don't. Just because you don't get caught don't make it right and when you think about it most people at some time or other have spead, run a light or failed to give way but have just got away with it. I do agree with you though. but I just think about the ones with the cars that are not road worthy and the ones that get away with it. They contribute to the bad results on the road too
