That's the drama. 3 xys went in Sydney last week for 2.5k. Figured I could make 3 and sell 2. Then thought of the poor cars .:'( . I could never have a Commodore in my house. I would get terrible nightmares. It needs a squareish boot and not terrible rust. I have a couple of cars, even a hk monaro that deserves a gas axe.

You got two coupes in the garage...Use one of them
I think for a couch...Go for something you like the look of, but something that is also big enough...TC Cortina would look good Cheers Col

I've always wanted to do a couch from xf/xg/xh ute or perhaps an a or b series ute. Or maybe even a Jag! It will go well with my coffee table.

I was going to cut a Zh's bum of for a lounge and fit a Fe Ltd rear seat(damn comfy) in the boot for a lounge but I got offered good money for my spare shell. One day I will chop some sort of a Fairlane. I was thinking of a zh front with about a foot of bonnet and front guards to make a cool bar. I seriously need to get the new Ford rooms wall finished so I build stuff

The problem with using late model cars is that they don't usually have any chrome, and are usually left with some odd shaped boot opening that doesn't lend itself to the "couch" shape.
A guy I know made one out of an extremely rusty and crashed (in the front end) XY some years back. The thing was just about beyond saving, but after he'd stripped out the parts he needed for his project XY wagon, he was about to cut up the rusted bent shell and dump it when a light bulb went on over his head and he thought "why not?". |

Thinking on doing this with a busted flatty I have in the shed using an offy twin carb manifold with the glass mounted through the carb mounts and having the carbs as a centre piece on the table
