Default Supercheapauto™ super shit recall.

Just browsing SuperCheapAutos website and came across this:

Makes you wonder with some of the cheap products they put on the shelves what sort of quality control they go through before being sold to the public.

Dont know about you but I want a bit more than a $20 jack and some $10 axle stands, before I will climb under 1800Kg of car.

Please before working under your car ensure it is securely mouted as shown below.

Just scanned it out of a back issue of Motor Mag, I had received it prior to that in on of the many regular e-mail mass mailings.

I am the most paranoid car fixer at home. I put the BIG floor jack under it, and another cheap floor jack and some stands. I will never be squashed!!!

lol....reminds me of the funny show "Bush Mechanics" on sbs a while back where the aboriginal communities in central australia did their stuff with what they had. Things such as replacing the brake fluid with Omo detergent, hooking up the wiper reservoir as a fuel pump, or fixing a flat tyre with stuffing it full of spinifex grass. Their jack involved getting 4 blokes to lift it onto its side then propping it up with a stick lol

that line from the Bush Mechanics show is etched somewhere in the depths of my twisted mind. I've got a .wav file of it somewhere, have saved it as default.wav on more than a few red army home PC's.

what do you expect from super cheap?
would you expect things to be of shit quality and break if they came from Clints as well?
its all in the name and the PRICE.
you get what you pay for.

too true.

However, if a product has an advertised load limit of x kg's you would expect it to conform, especially if the particular product has been on the market for 4 years now.

I suspose it come's down to you get what you pay for, but in the interest of safety, I would never buy something like this from a cheap store anyway, it pay's to buy something that you can trust if you value your safety.

well if its taken this long for sca to recall it, then it must be recent findings, and to save their own *** they're going to recall all sold back for a couple of years...
return it and exhange for car ramps or something...

and stop baggin sca, they sell some good stuff, some cheap shit...
sell good oil, filters, spark plugs, hoses, spare parts n shit
really depends how stinjy you want to be

give me a break, your telling us that "SuperExpensive" wouldnt ever have a recall because the stuff costs more?

im sure quite a few people on here have had to take their very expensive cars back to the dealers once or twice, for even serious issues like brakes and steering racks....

but just because theyre called "SuperCheap" they get bagged when they make a product recall...

*i have no affiliation with SuperCheap Auto (just call me Steven Ellery ;) )

I'm kinda wondering what prompted the recall ??????

These things have been selling at SUPERCHEAP for years. Maybe it was LB instead of KG that this unit was made for.

i have no idea
but usually most stuff that is recalled is recalled before it goes on the shelf
i am affiliated with sca.. i work there...
awsome place to work

but yeh the stuff that is recalled is only on shelf for less then a week usually
so i really dont know what sparked this recall...
i might find out
working 9-5 tomorrow so yeh

Rumour has it! And its only a rumour, but SCA had to recall these jacks, woman complained they offered insufficient lift. see below.

Nothing beats a big lump of timber thats twice the height of you body, no car is going to break through that should the stands fall. The tyres might hurt a bit though.
