Default BPR CAI = great addition for the 6cyl turbo, too!

Guys, what can I say?!

I have done ~500km since I have collected the car off you at midday saturday and even though the weather yesterday evening was dangerously bad for driving and today I was on my way out to Philip Island which is a boring drive, I can honestly say I loved every moment of it!

I had no idea the filter you used in the box was SO MASSIVE, the sound is intoxicating and I worry I will suck up small objects/people from the side of the road when it roars haha
Everyone who has been in my car since has immediately commented on how it sounded!

The new tune is amazingly smooth and I have so much usable power across the range it is not funny.. I reckon better economy yet again, too. Those 'few' extra rwkw I picked up with just the CAI was amazing to us both I think, but who is complaining?! Money extremely well spent and by far the best decision I have made with my current setup.

As the BPR guys know, I'm a fussy bugger to put it nicely. I don't deny it, in fact I warned them haha.. but I know you get what you pay for etc.
When it came to the look of my engine bay, it has to look very stock/tidy as my car is very stealthy in appearance and the design, style, fit and finish of the box is spot on!

We on the forums are well aware that the V8 boys and girls swear by the BPR CAI to open them up, but I can honestly reassure the XR6T/F6/G6ET people who do not want to go changing too much pipe-work or maybe even the crossover that THIS is a must have and you may even embarrass a few people who have done 'the whole hog' for much more $$$. :

Great stuff, I/ve never heard one fitted to the I6, if you had the time, a sound file driving, with the car being reved across the whole range would be fantastic.

Mate, I have a BA XR6 N/A, and I just got the CAI system fitted, and let me tell you! BOY!!! Sounds bloody awesome!

I requested a before and after dyno and the BPR CAI, alone, gave me 8kw (I know, little). But once a good exhaust system is fitted, and a custom tune is done, that's when the CAI really shines.

Nothing beats it! Best in the game!

Thanks for the comments guys and I wont be change the rims, the tyers on the other hand... haha!

My F6 picked up some good power from the CAI, I am waiting on Theo or Chris to send me some dyno sheets, I forgot how much it picked up exactly, but it also changed how the car drives to the point it drives like a completely new car and that is more important than the power for me I think.

The car went to Ford for some non-fixed warranty work (as usual) and they could not believe how strong the car feels and how smooth it drove for a B-series...
To put this into perspective, they have in the past claimed it the best F6 Typhoon they have had through their doors prior to the last visit to BPR!

The service guys wanted to know everything I had done now that the warranty has just expired; but I still played it modest haha

Awesome!

It still makes contact over some bumps and while on longer fast corners, but I can confirm it is a bit better than it was.
Let me know what you think we should do.

Cheers guys!

I just wanted to throw some photos up since I have had a few PMs asking how the finish was and if I was happy with how it integrated into my seemingly stockish looking engine bay.
I also took some from different angles as when I was looking for photos there wasn't much showing how it fit into the engine bay other than front on...

You guys can now be the judge on how it looks in my engine bay; I don't have the equipment needed to take any videos or audio recordings though, sorry guys, you will just have to take my word on it haha. :

No wonder it's so good, the guys at BPR shove the biggest filter possible in there!

Very nice! The I6 can sound alright with a good setup.

Do you have a thread of your cars progress?

To the untrained eye it looks 100% factory..

I agree with you on how good the induction noise is.

When I put one on my 8, it was worth the price of admission alone!

Ahhh yes, now I remember seeing your beast at BPR on the dyno Good stuff mate, enjoy it... Just one question though, how do you manage to keep the engine bay looking so clean and shiny??? I mean I give it a nice clean and wipe down everytime I wash my car but still doesnt look as clean as yours for some reason...

Interestingly, these pics were taken before I gave it a good clean; it was very dusty where the standard airbox used to sit...

No special techniques, bit of the ol good 'truck wash' or dry wash is all my car ever gets and the engine bay gets a wipe down with a damp cloth maybe every 2nd wash lol

Gratz Dan, I must say that the CAI is a good piece of kit I got it on my FG XR6T and it sounds awesome. Don’t tell Theo & Chris I said this but they do a bloody good job and you get the comedy act to go with it all for free.

Waiting for those dyno sheets before and after . Also good to hear your pleased with the induction noise on the turbo 6. I was a bit put off after reading on here that a guy took the BPR CIA off a xr6 and fitted it to a xr6T and he was missing the louder sound of the naturally aspirated motor.
guess I should put in my order now?

Well, I still couldn't recommend the CAI highly enough!
I've been overseas for a while now and just got back to Melbourne.

When I picked up my car after driving an assortment of hire cars (some good, some not so good haha) the second I drove off down the street, sedately, it put a huge smile on my face.
The sound is freaking AWESOME, without being obnoxious or monotonous; just sounds like such a beast not to be toyed with...

So, yes. Put your order in. ASAP.

Late FG CAI's have a notch taken out of the bottom due to Ford having some additional bracing.

$650 RRP, they have just gone back to their normal price. (Were on Special for a while)

Give them a buzz... 9305 3000

Flatchat,

we are located at 47 cooper st campbellfield, you are welcome to come down and personally view some before and after dyno reports on many turbo cars.

For the last3-4 weeks we have been unable to print dyno sheets, we apol, ogize for this temporary inconvenience.

Yes, you would just remove the 3 winged screws (easy and no tools required) to lift the airbox top and fill up the washer reservoir as per normal.

The airbox if anything is a more tidy looking option than stock, hiding lots of cables, plugs, washer reservoir, headlight backing and some pipes...

I no longer have this car so as above your best bet is to swing by BPR and view as many of the comparative dyno runs as you want.

I must admit .... nice underbonnet photography work there.
Nice to see some decent images taken for a change.
Definitely worthy product photography right there.
