Default we're dropping like flies...

I seemed like only days ago I was expressing my condolences to the guy who got retrenched out of the blue. Now it's my turn ...just like that ...was given 5 minutes notice. wham bam thank you mam!

So if anybody needs an experienced IT support person with 15 years corporate experience in Melbourne, please yell out, I'm going cheap!

cheers and thanks...

I started a new job today in sales/customer service...

I know how much it sucks to be given the door...I got the Rudd treatment when I was blown off. Called at 10pm. Lovely.

Best wishes in finding a new position.

Might help if you expand a bit on the "experienced IT support person with 15 years corporate experience. " What are your areas of expertise?

I was once sick at home, recuperating from a hospital stay. Work rang me up and asked if I could come in for a meeting. Upon arriving at work, I was told I was redundant.

Sorry to hear matey and Elguapo is right you should try to elaborate on your experience and maybe put something into The Bar which may help. I wonder also as I have seen members looking for work and workers on here weather there would be call for an Employment section where you could post some relevent details and employers could post up for workers. I can see the Mods now , oh no not more work.

Thanks CHIEF, (missed by that much), I wasn't aware of the thread although it is a bit hidden away but now I can send members there if need be again. Looks like two signed up today after it was mentioned so maybe there is more need.

I was in the same boat about 4 weeks ago...Got told one friday afternoon, the next Tuesday I was out the door.

Not a good feeling, I still haven't gotten work (I'm a Civil Designer)...But had an interview last week that seems promising.

Fair call, I try to get along with the boss, (you may as well have him as a friend rather than foe!!!) but I will not back stab my workmates, nor spend my R&R with the boss or upper management. Hence my climb up the ladder, came to a shuddering stop. I just do my job, try to get along with my workmates & spend my R&R with my family.

Yeah thats the problem with private businesses. My father was just made redundant a few months back too (Hence why he has to sell his FG F6 advertised on here). I work for the govt. We have our jobs forever!

Don't bet on it, chief - My wife's government job was just privatised as part of splitting Queensland Rail up to be sold...

Only if you are grossly incompetent and lazy.

If you are a capable hard worker you will be made redundant before you can pose any threat to the lazy grossly incompetent managers above you........
