Default Wix oil filter for TDCi

Quality oil filters for the diesel .are expensive in NZ. Both the Ryco and Motorcraft are about $35 each. But I found a Wix filter for $16.

Even more good news - Wix were bought by Mann + Hummel earlier this year, and the filter is made in Poland, so I'd guess that it's a rebranded Mann.

I'm paying the same for the Mann filters here (+ postage)

If I order over $150 worth I get free postage. Not hard when you combine a few oil, a couple of fuel and an air and pollen filter (plus some filters for my Triton as well)

The end caps on the Mann and Wix filters look different, so the Wix aren't just a rebrand.

I'll have a look at the website and see if they ship to NZ.

EDIT: They do ship to NZ but it's $20 for 1 filter. Would be OK if I ordered a few at the same time, but I'm not wired like that!

I always buy in bulk. I've used 3 oil filters (and a fuel filter) since I brought the Mondeo early in the year. I'm doing oil changes at 7500km intervals or about every 8/9 weeks. I used to buy the filters for my commodore in boxes of 10 but I only used the cheapo Chinese filters in it.

Can someone answer me this question? Is there an up or down to the filter cartridge? I never payed much attention when I took the first one out. They appear the same from each end apart from some printing on one end. Look the same internally.

No, they are symmetrical.

I buy Motorcraft ones for $13. Can't be much difference between those and a $16 one?

I would too for that price, they're $39 in FNQ from Fraud and not much better from the other auto outlets.

Are you doing the belt? A step by step with pics would be great

I will have this coming up in about 20K and I'm half considering having a chop at it myself.

It was, mate, just checked my ebay purchases and I sourced it from bigredtoolboxaustralia $56.90 17-07-17 (lol 2.5mths ago, gone down a bit). Word of caution though, the flywheel pin tool was too tight fitting, I'll explain that in the coming thread

The Cam pin was excellent but the star of the show was the ring gear locking tool. No if's No maybes, get it you'll need it.

Over all piece of pi$$ but there's procedure to follow that makes the job done longer than a petrol engine
