Hi guys
Took my WQ zetec in for its 15000km service today at Thompson. Only reason I went to them was because they were the cheapest of the dealers I called. Anyway, the incompetent bastards seem to have overfilled the oil. It reaches about 1-1.5cm above the max mark on the dipstick. How hard is it to do their job properly? : Will this excess oil cause a problem? Cheers |

Did you wait a few minutes after the engine is off before checking? If not then that's why it reads higher. Otherwise then 1.5cm above max is overly excessive and it should be drained. Excessive oil in engine isn't good.

Yeah I waited a few minutes. So how much you reckon I need to drain out if it's 1.5cm over the dipstick max mark?

I'm not sure, as there is no way to work out exactly how much oil is for every cm. I guess best way is to remove the drain plug and let say 500ml out then recheck your oil level and adjust as necessary.

Yup checked this morning. Bit lower, but still ~1cm above the max mark. Gonna drain some now...
