Great to see calder being put to use again lately. (last couple of years)

I'm hoping to get along to this one, last time I went out to calder for the drifting it was a hoot, specially seeing a chick in an VK brock carving up the little tackers....lol

And add to this one some seriously quick drag cars and you've got a real good day.

Track prep i hope he didnt pay for that as i have never seen as many loose cars in ages (very dangerous) and a fair few werent happy with the lack of traction (a gold capri from sydney)

Got a call from a mate at the drags said it was big so got a couple of guys and headed out (when i knew BJ wasnt running it)awsome feild of cars and good to cath up with a heap of people i new from years back .The only thing was the lay time when nothing was going on but a few more classes will fix that .
Lets see if BOB tries the same stunt on this promoter as he has done to CRUZIN Mag and their Nostalgia meet ???????????????????????????????????

Also good to catch up with FPVGT there as well

Yep, that was stated by XRFPV8 further up in the thread
It is a drag event so it would be either in the drag forum or events forum. I would expect that more drag type people would look here so it's a good call.

I vaguely remember John Zappia a long time ago when Calder was going well.... but I cant forget the car that Zappia raced back then. Something like "Zap's Rat" was it?

EDIT; Found it... I used to have a signed poster of this HQ Monaro on the wall as a youngin I got from one of the nationals!

It was i great day 155 cars took part in drag racing...Rod and my self helped crew with 2 cars one was John (big banger) the other was Craig in his Commodore both guys chose to go into DYO category it was a 85 car field. Craig finished in the top 8 in his 1st meeting for 5 years was knocked out by a XW GT....John (big banger)won the competition out of 85 cars super effort and out from 8 runs he went 9.98 to 10.06 every pass....i spend the whole day being the tow driver it was fun...A huge huge crowd perfect weather...John Zappia went 6.3, 6.3, 6.4...we seen one side by side 6 sec TOP door slammer pass..
we left Calder 12.15 am this morning, there was a few protests and almost punch-ups at the end of the night....all in all great day of drag racing so many many comp cars came out to play...many cars we hadn't seen for a long time...
PS: only 1 oil down the whole day and it was only a small one.. _2:
Alex has sent me some pics.
1st pic is Nick Xerakais new Pro Stock Ford Escort
2nd pic I think its Grant Williams Turbo Rotary
3rd pic is Lucky Belleri Top Door slammer Camaro (Steve Stanic driving)

What a great event.

I went in to the event with a worn clutch, and ended up with no clutch

Got the call Thursday afternoon from Nathan "Get ya a$$ down here, you are racing on Saturday"

Some 11th hour new shafts, harness and tailshaft loop and we were ready.

Drove there drove home.

Practice

1. 11.66 @ 121mph 60' 1.78 (clutch okish)
2. 11.58 @ 118mph 60' 1.76 (slipping in between gears)
3. 11.49 @ 120mph 60' 1.78 (mmmm not good still)

Knockout

1. 12.0 @ 118mph 60' 1.94 (absolute slip everywhere)
2. 12.0 @ 118mph 60' 2.02 (clutch GONE!! ) LOST

I can agree with you on that one Simon, my clutch has been pretty 2nd hand for a long time now and at first I was wondering what on earth was wrong to lose over half a second at the strip but no rwkw's, till i drove someone elses with similar mods and a good clutch, that i realised what it was. Now it's slipping pretty bad particularly after last heathcote meet when it was slipping out of gears on the way home

Probably gonna be like that for longer too till I can afford to replace it!

I think your 100% spot on, he didnt need to hurt anything he came to put on a show....

Simon very consistent good job.....I spoke to Nathan before the heats of DYO he raced against the car i was helping with in the 1st round, look at his ET ticket he cost himself a certain 9 sec pass he went 10.22 on a 1 sec reaction time...

Our car will not be goin back there. We got to the bump( at about 330), shook the tires and went sideways (in both lanes), so we put in in the trailer and ****ed off. Better to have a car home in one peice. Same thing happened to Xerakis. I have a good suggestion for Calder. Get a D9 Catapiller, and flatten everything. I am very, very surprised that there were no big accidents, as the track surface wasn't as good as they made it out to be (surprise surprise).
