well i'm with them . they have asked ask for $250 upfront for a new billing system . which we paid . now they havent even sent us a new bill due . today, nor have they deducted the funds we paid for the new billng system . we cant pay as we did . because they wont take payment by phone anymore . our only options are b'pay . which our bank doesnt deal with . leaving us unable to pay a bill, unable to receive notification of a bill due . unable to even let the company know that we are paid in advance , by a few months . and unable to even speak to a customer service rep. because they are constantly busy with this new f### up system . the recorded message is so busy it gets engaged . are they going to go bank rupt or what.
anyone recommend another ISP WHERE I CAN GET home phone . braodband. and perhaps mobile package . i've simply had it with aapt . |

www.iinet.net.au. Unbelievable customer service (and I mean unbelievable), packaged ADSL and home phone, but no mobile. Service is excellent and you can pay online, direct debit, paper bills, any way you like.

Internet - Internode
Home Phone - Telstra (Homeline Budget plan for $19.95) Home Phone Calls - Internode's Nodephone (VoIP) - 18c untimed to any land line in Australia Mobile Phone - Anyone you like. I personally use Telstra as I am in the country and want the coverage.

The only difference is that internet is with TPG. The biggest thing about TPG - The staff on the end of the phone. I run a non-standard modem, on a not-supported setup and they're always more than happy to provide me with line tests and connection details. I recently had a line fault (copper wire corroded) so I gave them a call. They checked my connection history and saw that the speeds were getting worse and worse so immediately logged a fault with Telstra. Telstra were taking a while to get around to it, but TPG kept calling every 2 days just letting me know that no appointment had been set, but that they were following it up. About 2 weeks later, Telstra were onsite and fixed the issue. I got a call from TPG THAT NIGHT stating that my connection speed had increased dramatically and wanted to check whether Telstra had been out. It appears Telstra are less than flash in the wholesale market so TPG go off their own data. I even got a call a week later to ensure I was happy with how the fault had been handled and whether I would like to persue compensation. I declined the compensation on the grounds that they honestly could not have provided a better service during the outage. I've always said that customers don't get stroppy because there's an outage, they get stroppy because of the way a supplier handles said outage. I swapped from dodo over a year ago. Getting rid of Dodo is a whole different kettle of fish. TPG actually spoke to dodo directly to tell them what they needed to do with Telstra to remove the DSL codes from my line. |

I am changing from AAPT. I just moved house, it took my girlfriend an hour on the phone for 5 days to get through to them. They took over a week to transfer the connection, another 2 weeks to be able to make mobile/std calls. They are just hopeless. I will be charging them $50 and hour for our time and $50 a day while our phone was not working properly.
I am trying to decided who to change to, not Telstra, Optus is ok, they are all very average in their service...

Internote IInet TPG The plans won't always suit you 100%, but they'll answer the phone in a timely manner and do nothing but assist you. Sure they're off shore, but they're a damn smart AND courteous lot! |

Means that on peak times you can download 4 gigabytes (usually maybe 8am-8pm) and off peak you get 8 gb. |

Off-peak 8 gig - 2am to 12 noon That means you simply schedule your big downloads overnight. All the big ISP's do it to minimise traffic during peak hours - stops DVD downloads slowing networks. I speak to an Aussie every time 24 hours a day with minimal waiting time if any, they send a customer survey by email at the end of each call to offer you feedback and they're great with technical info. I've been with them for 3 years and I have referred others to them as a result. I'd back them 100%. They really re-defined my faith in telcos. If they did mobile I'd sign up tomorrow, despite being very happy with Optus as a whole for 6 years. They also worked with Telstra (and a big stick) when I moved house interstate, ensuring the line was connected. Cannot fault them.

A lot of people don't like the big companies, but i'm with optus, have been for over 2 years. I get 7gig peak(12pm to 12am) and 14gig off peak(12am to 12pm), which is the best off peak hours i've seen from any ISP. If you have a home phone with them it only costs $49.95 a month for the broadband plan. Plus the home phone cap is a good deal as well.
EDIT: And you don't get charged for uploads with optus either. I was with AAPT when they first started up and had nothing but trouble, they caused me plenty of headaches. |

AAPT are a complete joke. I was going to use them as they offered no excess usuage charges. Took about 7weeks and 3 calls of which each was over 30mins on hold, 2 emails compaining and then they decide to tell me the deal isnt available in my area anymore ? WTF

Thoroughly recommend Internode for Internet!
Quote:
One reason why i'm with internode, can use my quota whenever I like and unlike some ISP's the performance is the same no matter what time of day. Just ask some TPG customers trying to use the internet during their off-peak time about performance degradation. |

AAPT have stuffed my bill up again. They owe me $80, and they said that they would credit my next bill by $80. The new bill arrived today, and I wan't credited with the $80. I got on the blower and after 1/4 of an hour of listening to machines I hung up. Not happy Jan.

I can vouch for that. I've been a westnet customer for 3 years now and never a problem. If you sign up for it you can receive emails about when there will be a scheduled outage or degraded performance due to technical work. And yes they have been voted best in customer service for the last umm 4-5 years i think?. My housemate works in their tech support team as well so he tells me how stuff gets handled etc. |

i have used Westnet for my internet for about 5 years and have had my home phone with them for the last year. i have never had the slightest problem with them and found their service exellent. can always get a friendly/ helpfull australian on the phone if i have a quiery. dont know if the other companies do it or not but if i travel i can take my laptop and use either dial up or broardband connection which ever is available with my standard home broadband account. i will never deal with testra again if i can get away with it.

Stay away from optus.
I'm with them and the customer service is terrible. Also the technicians are absolutely useless!

Im also with aapt, the internet connection has been faultless for over a year, we're on a 1500k speed plan, but they charge extra for the over usage downloads which sux.
Also their email sucks a$$, mine can only support 19mb of storage, which is used up in a week, and goddamn it is so unuserfriendly and slow and it plays up 75% of the time, i hate checking emails, this is their biggest downfall for me. Which ISP has the best email inbox? |
