Hi there everyone. I am the proud owner of a 1989 Ford Telstar TX5 ghia. It has been the most reliable vehicle I have owned. Until recently. A few weeks ago I noticed that the "hold" light was flashing and the speedometer was not working. These symptoms went away after going about 2 miles. However, the problem has become more persistent and it comes and goes randomly while driving. During all of this time the gearbox has been changing up and down normally, with no problems.
Can anyone help ???????????? Regards Ken |

Hi Ken, I own a 1985 Telstar AR and recently, a failure on the alternator's internal diodes caused the current to increase (beyond 16V), and the speedometer to work in intervals, goind to complete sleep during driving and showing irregular readings. I'm not an expert but have a look at the alternator; my car has done about 250,000 kms with this original alternator. As to the HOLD light, can you be more specific please? Flokos
