No worries mate, i dont think ive seen such hype around an old racecar as these 2 GTR's you could hardly get near them. People were walking around both of them while the guys were working on them. Very up close and personal which was good. Much more interesting to watch the the current gen V8SC thats for sure

They are all on the track photos.
If its all good, I should be able to have them up in about 10-15 minutes.

So I'll add them anyway -

That brings back memories. We took six humpies down to Calder in the '60's to compete in a Vic v NSW meeting and I still have 8mm film of it. Norm Beechy was also there in his Nova putting on a show.

Had a laugh when the scrutineers weren't going to pass one of our car as being to noisy. Beechy’s mechanic, Claude Morton was next in line with the Nova so I asked him to start it up and give it a rev. When he did and it nearly deafened all of us our car was passed without further comment.

Lakeside (and QR for that matter) have a Excell Race series, where you can get a stock excel and race the bugger! very popular cheap racing, i was considering it and know many others that are as well.

Better than being there - no parking hassles, no crowds, great stuff!
Thank you for posting these. I actually drove past Lakeside in the Coupe today, what a massive day it must have been!

I was there on the saturday, The sight and sound of the godzillas was unbelievable. From a specator point of view, Lakeside would be one of my favourite tracks. Being able to drive around most of the circuit to different vantage points or even backing the ute up beside the track is a luxury. Here are a few shots i took up on the hill

Yeah, it has been like that for a long time - most of the time I just edit the spots out.
I am not very game to clean it myself, and keep forgetting to go and get it done.

Fantastic photos. Thanks for sharing. (Love the black Humpie). It amazies me how everybody raves about the 'godzilas' even they were beaten (debately) by DJR at there last Bathurst event and the 'pack of ar$eholes' comment will always be remembered.
All history I suppose.

Hi DLM83
Sorry mate - My comments were not intended to start an arguement. I just wasn't a fan of those cars at the time. I do respect the technology that went into them and I think J.R.'s comments at the time were uncalled for. But like I said - all part of history.
Once again - excellent photos and thanks to all for posting.

I may have seen your car too.
Dark blue TE50 with normal queenland plates?
Can't remember any of the numbers, but I think the letters started with an 'L'

Even if that wasn't you, it looked very nice.
