I was picking my next car and I am set on a WT CL in black and at the dealer they had a metal next to the CL
i tried to pick all the worthy differences or things that should be different both had rear drum brakes both had the same exhaust and onll the tips on the rear muffler came straight out on the metal intake parts numbers are the same as well as MAF and airbox the engine number prefix was different maybe the 10kw is just a tune? CL made in thailand Metal made in Germany so the Metal is a WS?? soft dash, 4x100 rims? metal has leather Zetec trim its a leftover 3dr shell too anyway for $10k over the CL i can't see the point but i wish they still sold a 3dr CL

Exactly. I have a 3 dr WS CL that cost $10K less and has the updated 93kW tune that's in the Focus...
If you're going to spend that coin you may as well wait for the ST... 132kW for what will be an extra 2 grand.... Metal makes the CL look like great value. |

Any Ford dealer will supply the tune when they update the software. It's done for free under warranty: long story....

Do you have any more details? I mean Ford advertise the WT as 88kw. Why would they then do a 10kw software tweak after delivery and not as a pre delivery item? I'm very confused. But I want my extra 10kw!!!! Oops. I mean extra 5 kw. |

Fiesta is deliberately kept lower than the Focus so there's a difference on paper in the brochure: only if you ask do you get told by the service dept. what tune they're putting in. Anyways, a 5kW upgrade isn't worth $10K in my opinion. |

The metal should have the 110 rims I would say since it's a German build, all the German build cars have the soft dash, it's only the Thai ones that have the plastic. Does the metal have the usual German (not for Australian market) stuff like climate control and push button start?. I agree though if you are thinking about the metal wait for the ST, that will hopefully be as different from the standard cars as the last ST(XR4), that had tons of special parts on it. My brother has one and it's pretty well a amazing beast of a little car and faultless apart from not have a clutch footrest, that's very annoying. It has almost unlimited cornering grip, easily picks up the rear wheel off the ground when cornering even better on corners than the WS Zetec, goes much quicker too. So all in all I'm a fan of the ST's.

One Ford, the car will be the same regardless of where its built, right?
The same when I fly to the moon in my house, there is a lot different with the WT over the WS, lies and slander. |

Isnt it being cheeky with the focus declared kw.
The declared kw on the LW Focus 1.6 relies on premium petrol. |

the 88kw figue for the WT is using 95 ron and the Metal's 98kw is also 95 ron fuel.
but i'd like to know why the combined fuel usage is lower in the metal?? only by .1 though you would think by adding 10kw to the same engine it should be worse on fuel not better

Sure the kw difference is nice, but you're paying for the extra trim, soft touch dash, leather everything, projector lights, climate control, etc, etc.
Once you count the value of all those extras, it starts to look fairly reasonable in pricing. But then again, once the ST comes out, you get all that, and more engine grunt for comparable $$$ so I don't see the point of a new Fiesta Metal unless you can't wait the 3-4 months for the ST to come out. |

the metal price will have to come down imho, especially once the st is out. carsales has 70metals for sale still. doesnt seem like any of them are moving...
i think you'd have a great chance of an awesome price for a metal if you went into the dealer right now. they arnt moving and its end of year... |

They aren't moving because Ford hasn't advertised it like usual. I honestly think it is still good value, back when the WT didn't exist the WS Zetec was 23k drive away (more if you didn't haggle etc) before run out.
For the extra 2k for the Metal I argue that it is good value. Just bad timing with the ST though, but remember not many people know the ST is on its way.
