I have an 1991 EA gl 30th anniversary Falcon
In my engine bay,my drivers hand book it says 3.9 litre EFI engine. But under the hood is a carborated engine dunno if its a 3.9 or 4.0 or 4.1? Can any body help... And I have been told If your car is EFI you have to stick with EFI motors. just asking... |

CFI = Center Fire Injection.
meaning, all of the injectors are mounted in the same place (ie, in your car, in the throttle body, which while it does look like a carby it's actually not.) It is a throttle body with a couple of big injectors in it. This differs to MPFI which means "MultiPoint Fuel Injection" Multipoint cars have one injector per intake runner, mounted close to the head. |

As I said in post #5:
Quote:
It has two large fuel injectors mounted in the throttle body, under the air filter. YES, it LOOKS like it has a carburettor, BUT IT DOES NOT. |

the computer is still needed to run spark.
putting an actual carburettor on the engine will make it illegal, as it will no longer pass an emissions test. also, EFI systems run around 30-40psi fuel system pressure, carby cars only run 5-7, so you will probably blow the top of the carby if you connect it up with the factory in tank pump. Carburettors are nowhere near as good as EFi -look into putting a multipoint manfold onto your engine, it will make more power, be more drivable and use less fuel than if you put a carby on...there are a million threads on it here, and fordmods.com has some instructions as well. |

also if you remove the computer your fuel pump wont run , the computer kicks in your pump for priming befor starting and the starts it when the moter is running

It's ok, you're not alone, only every EFI car in the world uses the ECU to control the fuel pump, as well as spark.

first up- extractors, multi point conversion, then k&N filter in the multi point airbox.
extractors- $250 sports exhaust- $250- $300 Air filter- $130 multi point conversion- check with wreckers

I like the idea of "bigger injector leads", that sounds like a top mod go to bunnings, get a hole saw, some alloy sheet, a soldering iron, then go to a speed shop and buy a 1050 Dominator. oh, and those bigger injector leads. then go to a place that wrecks forklifts, and get the diff out of one. that way you'll have a set of 5.88 gears, and youll be able to fit a set of suitably modified EF taxi rims (say, 15x15's) because of the narrow width of the diff. go to a truck wrecker, and get a reduction box, but put it in backwards. that way you'll still be able to cruise at 220kmph, even with the 5.88 gears. of course you'll need some downforce at 220kmph, so swing by and see mick @ autobarn, and get the biggest alloy bolt on spoiler you can. Trust me, the bigger the better. while you're there, get four cannons, and get them fitted in such a manner in that they're pointed upwards on a 45deg angle. the massive amounts of exhaust coming from each cannon will help force the rear of the car down. don't worry about a proffesional paint job. its a waste of money. find your friendly neighbourhood epileptic, hand them an open can of paint, and sit a strobe light on your roof. cheap custom paint job that will have everyone pointing ;) get neons. 1" of neon tube = 1rwkw. just think what a full underbody kit will do for the mighty ea ;) ;) i think those mods would be a good starting point. sorry if i offended any epileptics. you guys rock ;) well, shake uncontrollably, but you know what i mean |

man get ********* e I have only been just got into the car seen and some one told me about the injector leads...(and oblvisly I stupidly beleaved them...) And how much for an EF motor... instaled... I have the 4speed electronic auto... in (I know they were built for grandpa driving) I was thinking of getting a C4 auto (I think thats what it is called) in... but i don want to get rid of my engine cause it only has 120,000 on it... and its a killa of an engine(it seems to have a fair bit of power for a stock engine, more so than my old car ED Fairmont ghia that got totaled) And I have been qouted on a paint job for $16,000... Oh by the way my roof got jumped on and now it is all wobbly like you only have to touch it slightly and it pops in then out... Any one know how to fix it.. and how much to get a new rooflining put in... |
