I would like to know if the 1993 Telstar came off the Ford or Mazda production line? Don't know where else to ask.

I guess the Homebush, Sydney assembly stopped at the end of the AV model.

First gen Telstar was built in Broadmeadows 83 to 87 with a Geelong built engine, after that it was imported from Mazda.

Look at the ID plate, Mazda built ones have a Mazda plate.

There's some funny/strange things with the Ford/Mazda builds, it's the same with all co-joined manufactures though I suppose.
Is it a Ford, is it a Mazda, etc? My brother has a 2003 (I think), Mazda tribute V6, it's fully plated as Mazda, but has a Ford engine in it, (the factory manufacture sticker's still on the side of the head), & other than that there's no other Ford markings on it. The engine was made in Ford's Cleveland USA engine plant No.2. It mightn't be "Built Ford Tough", but it goes with "Ford Power". Been thinking about getting him a "Powered By Ford" sticker to put on the back window. |

Yeah, I thought calling them a Ford was a bit funny but Ford changed all the front panels so they are not interchangeable with Mazda. I found that out the hard way. Thanks for all the answers.

My brother had a 626. Somehow the rear window demister got turned on in summer, and it shattered the rear window. He was advised to replace it with the "Ford" part. Mazda winwos had the demister imbedded in the glass, but Ford went with the cheaper option of stick-ons, which weren't as prone to cracking.
