I scored a rust free front pass door yesterday for the ZH (door is off an XC) and I've just noticed that it, and the rear pass door I got last week BOTH have vin etching on the glass. I do have other doors with glass in them without etching but it looks like a huge pain to change windows out. Is there any way to get rid of the etch from the glass?

You can get an abrasive compound for glass, jewlers rouge I think its called.

If the glass and etching is that old try toothpaste, might save you a few bucks

I took a set of XC door glass into Novus for this reason.
What they do is fill the area with resin. The same stuff that is used for windscreen repair. Then they polish it. They only did one window and did not charge me for it because they were not happy with the result. I have before and after photos but they don't really show it well. Basically it no longer stands out but it's still there, just faint. They said the problem with the glass is that it is not flat, it really needs to be flat to get a good result. Not what you wanted to hear. I think you are pretty much stuck with it.

Thanks guys, might not be so obvious once its clean and painted. Might try a diamond sanding glass pad to dull it out a bit.
