My ute has had a fuel gauge issue for about 10 years. After I fill right up the gauge can flick to empty and back to full and same until I have done about 40 KM and then it reads correctly. I have just left it as an idiosyncrasy of the car.
Is yours the same or does it constantly read empty even when full? Bill.

The only way to fix it is to fill it up and park it in the garage.

Mine does the exact same thing.
Fuel guage sender is rooted. Cant be stuffed pulling it apart to fix it. I just use the trip meter now as a fuel guide. |

mine did that for a few months then stays on empty permanently now. I bought new sender and pump ,couldn't buy sender separately. that did nothing so I swapped cluster with my sedan and no change again, so gave up!! BUT my distance to empty is perfect and the warning lights and beeps work so I just use the distance to empty

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=33367 Seems there is a few AU2 utes with this issue. Possibly a recall was issued with a TSB.
