Talking Replica - would you own one if it was available?

I was going through some old photos , and noted over the years I have garaged many of my heroes replica's - dressed up in the exact livery as they have raced - this has been evident in my bicycles - road and mountain , motorcycles - road and enduro ...
Why is it that we have never had the opportunity to purchase a motor vehicle dressed in the same livery as our hero's ..
I for one , would have loved the opportunity to own a Pepsi Max GT .. Now , I 've stopped for moment and made sure of what I was saying - and although as I become older in age , my preference now has been to own less louder items , yet , I still remain a fan of the Octane GTF . Now , paint the car in a race livery and I sold - go figure !!!
Would you purchase your GT if it was available in the Bottle O, Pepsi Max , Super Black Racing , DJR or even in a race livery of yesterday year - say TRU-BLU? . I would !

Why wouldn't you?

Modern paint would even vastly improve well known classics. I remember them saying that the "last of the big bangers" Brock VK Commodore...the one with the white and bright day-glo orange/red paint...used paint that, at the time, if used on a street car would fade in the sun in weeks.

Personally I'd love a replica of the old race Chargers or the Greens Tuff Falcon.

I hear ya- the theft factor increases 10 fold ... We do live in a world filled with people whose hearts are filled with intolerance and hate - sad , and agree a very big turn off to taking the leap into owning just a horn delivery.

To me it's the same question as:

Would you marry a gorgeous looking woman if you knew she had undergone plastic surgery to look the way she does?

No but I would prob date her till the plastic started to fall off and then trade her in on a newer model

For me, no.

If was a garage car, maybe but not a daily drive.
Be kinda embarrassing.

However, i would love to have this car.
And i would drive it and enjoy it and not have it hiding away.

I would much rather put my money into my own race car than replicating someone elses.

On a slightly different note I would have an original Bellet GT before I would own a well done Phase 3 fake.

That's why I own a genuine LJ XU-1 and a real 70 Torino 429 SCJ. There isn't any room for tarted up grocery getters in my garage.

I wouldn't do a replica of a racecar but I would own a replica of another car (ie mockup GT) or a kit car like a DRB or an AC Cobra.

Agree - I would be happy to purchase the factory GT, supplied with factory replica livery, but , since a boy , have found it difficult to own a Torana LH , make into a L34 , or LX into 2 dr A9X , or Falcon XW 500 into a GT Phase 3 - especially now , that those replica's asking price , is very close to the original model - all be it that those replica are in far better condition that the some of the originals . No I not saying you 're able to buy a genuine GT Phase 3 for the asking price of a freshly restored replica GT Phase 3 at $100k.. What I am saying , at $100k , I would rather a original XW GT or XW GT Phase 1.
I guess the original question remains - if available , would you be happy to own your XU-1 in Brock's livery ? . There have never been available from the factory , and I don't expect , anyone who owns a original marque product would be painting it in other than factory code paint . Why hasn't FPR or another racing outfit provided a factory car in it's race livery to the general public?

Look out - I been thinking !! Hahaha.. Maybe , what I have been attracted too , is something that is a little different - something that sets it apart from the rest . In the past it has been replica livery , today , I own a RSpec , with some silly red wheels ...
So , maybe I should have asked , are we happy to purchase what is available and then seek to customize it such a fashion to please yourself , or are we all looking to purchase that one item that speaks volumes about us as a "individual"? Is modification , have the same effect as those silly red wheels ?

Agree , replica would be much more at home , either as a fully time tenant in a garage with the occasional stroll , or doing laps on a track day . It's funny , how acceptable it is ride a Valentino Rossi Honda 900 or Troy Bayliss Ducati
998 , yet over the top to drive a Pepsi Max Replica ? . Agree , I would find it very, very embrassing to drive it to work
PS . Also love your thoughts on the AC Cobra replica.

There's a few coupes getting around that are replicas of race coupes. They range from full on track cars to road cars with a paint job. There are 6 that I know of here in Vic.

I wonder whether Ford will provide a replica of one of Moffat's Bathurst Mustangs to get Ford fans excited about entering Ford next chapter ?

Further to that note , I am totally surprised that Ford have yet to contract Moffat to begin to hatch up some commercials , reminding us punters that the once raced Mustang is now available on our shores in right hand drive at a AUD $ - comparable to similar high performance cars on the market - yet with racing heritage.
