Whenever I read car magazines they allways pump you full of statistics and crap like quarter mile times, cup holder count and resale values but really the reason people buy car's is because they are fun to drive.
I read all the raving reviews about the XR6 Turbo and how with a ZF six speed turbo it was a beast but i have to say I was quite disappointed. The engine was way to quiet and it didn't feel like you were going fast it was way to refined. I'm sorry to say the most fun I have had was in my 1991 Ford Laser Ghia, 1983 XE Falcon with straight through exaust and my dads 1968 ford Fairmont 302 Windsor column shift. What made them fun was raw power and ability to go hard I hate how refined cars have become and how car mags gloss over lap times. I have my motorbike liscence so if I want good lap times I would ride the GPZ 900 all I want is a lot of raw untamed power through the rear wheels. I don't care what people say is the most fun car to drive I will admit that one of the most fun cars to drive at work is the Toyota Camry simply because it was a manual and that I actually enjoyed driving the BF Falcon LPG wagon i dunno it was just was fun. |

I find my volvo fun to drive in some circumstances... dare I say :. It may not handle well or go fast, but it is fun to trash around because it is a piece of junk and worth peanuts.

In all seriousness, the Pug is a damn fun drive. The turbo diesel pumps out a heap of torque that keeps pushing you back in to your chair when it spools up, and keeps the smile on your face when you do it too! Uses bugger all fuel as well! Throw it in to some corners, and it sticks to the road like no other.

You can have fun in just about any car IMO, its only your imagination and the law that prevents most of it..LOL
I find ringing the neck out of a barina fun, or just cruising in my falcon; depends on the mood.

Like driving XD, jumping out of that and into the EL, it felt light years ahead in every way, And i realise there is 20 years worth of refinement and the like, i still prefer to drive the EL, because it suits my needs (reliability, comfort, cheap to run) better than the XD...

may i dare say it but my mates vs commodre with extractors 3 inch exaust and roof trim falling off was fun to drive as it bounced around on the road it felt like 300 km/h at 100 km/h and i dunno but a base model falcon with a manual is more fun than xr6 turbo with auto

The most fun cars??
Why, Little cars with big engines shoehorned in to give them a power to weight similar to big sports cars ;) That and the Lotus Elises and Exiges! |

Out of all the cars that I have owned ( about 35 of them ) the car that was the most fun was my Leyland Mini it was by no means quick but boy did it go around corners.

I thought my TX5 was fun to drive and my WRX is definitely fun to drive.
No BS loungechair. Just a raw, driver's car. The old hatchback Lasers are the best fun you can have on the cheap though. : |

personally i have most fun driving cars i don't have to worry about paying for :P i thrash the work utes and they are just turbo deisel bravo's. most fun car i've probably driven would be a mates proton satria GTi with full exhaust, intake, lowered suspension, swaybars, and rally style steering wheel and rally spec shifter. thrash it and it just stuck to the road and loved it! try doing that in my new xr6t and your going through gallons of fuel worrying about cops because it goes fast and loses traction AND it's worth alot of money if something goes wrong.

I think Top Gear magazine was right when they did their 100 fastest cars.
It'd have to be the rental car. They always go faster, handle better and you're always more inclined to take it to the limit. Go Corolla Go!

For me, any car where the engine slightly (or massively) overpowers the chassis (manual of course) is a hoot to drive. Did someone say oversteer? |

Escort. Pump the front tyres up by about 4 psi over the rears and have even more fun with the oversteer. Loved it!

Recently owned a Datsun 240z. Great handling and power to weight, low to the ground, a real sports car and a ton of fun.
