Default Pink? Oh dear... (a short rant)

Yes, it's time for another short rant. Last time it was spinners. Having only just recovered from that particular episode (and the therapy I so desperately needed after witnessing their hypnotic spinningness), I have found a new axe to grind.

Ordinarily, I don't pay anything much attention if I see something only once… unless of course it’s the Lincoln Mark IV coupe that I saw trundling down Newmarket Road a couple of weeks back. It had me grinning like an idiot, pointing, dribbling (I think) and almost kerbing the nearside wheel in my wife's car. Breasts have a similar effect on my driving.

This morning on the drive to work, I passed a car parked on the side of the road. Nothing terribly unusual in that, I hear you say. But this car was special; at least it *has* to be for someone. It was a Mazda 121 “bubble” and it was white. But that wasn't what made it special. It had pink seat covers, something pink hanging from the rear view mirror and pink wheel trims. There may be nothing wrong with doing some mild modifications to your car, but please… pink? Surely the driver of said vehicle was a teenage girl who left no clues as to her favourite colour and clearly has no taste at all. And that's just about excusable, in my book.

But that car on its own didn't really catch my attention. I noted it, made up my own mind about it and its owner, and then carried on driving to work. Not 3 minutes down the road, I spy an old Camry ahead. It is also white, and it too has been to the My Little Pony School of Krazy Kustomisation. I am frankly appalled that there exists another car so heinously "pinked". Pink seat covers, pink fluffy toys on the parcel shelf and pink rubbing strips down the side of it… quite who would actually want to rub up against a car like that, I cannot fathom.

My reaction was perhaps a little restrained, as I only emitted a sort of snorting sound; you know, the one that precludes some light sniggering and a few shakes of the head. But then I happened to note the driver of the car. Said driver was not a teenage girl, chewing bubblegum and with hula-hoops dangling from her ears. No, he was… well, a he.

Please, let there have been some misunderstanding here. This guy couldn't POSSIBLY be the owner of this car – not in a million years. He is clearly taking the car to the wreckers to be crushed into a small cube of metal under the cover of dawn (silly boy – night would've been better) and will be replacing his "girlfriend's" car with something more normal, like a metallic silver Toyota Echo.

Sadly, I suspect not. I suspect this gentleman is actually deranged and truly believes that his "worked" 1989 Camry is the height of brilliance. And so, I shake my head, and laugh at him and his pathetic conveyance.

I would like to propose a new requirement – mandatory back-window stickers in all cars with ANY pinkness that state "Yes, I know it looks gay, but it’s my daughter’s car, OK?". Failure to display these stickers in such cars will result in a generous donation to the Fondmetal Mag Wheel Replacement Programme, because I'm getting sick and tired of running into the bloody kerb…

As I have the bike as my main transport sometimes it isnt always practical (like when i need to pick up multiple passengers or carry a big load) so am forced to drive my fiances red corolla (yes it is almost pink) and it also has red seat covers :

so maybe this guy was a biker in disguise who was just forced into using this contraption?

or perhaps he was a homosexual tool

Ah but what if the choice was you can have a pink xr6t ute or you can have nothing (girlfriends are known to make such ultimatums)

which would you choose?

If you wear the pants in the relationship you dont have anything to worry bout. Now i have to kick the pussy whipped side of my mate out. Pink is sofffffffffft

Indeed. He cant even control his laser so i dunno how he will handle a turbo. Dont think he will get one as he earns 30k a year. And a correction his GF is his fiancee. He forked out $2400 for an engagement ring. Oh on the topic of pink she wants to buy him a pink shirt lol. Bet it will be a pink wedding aswell if it lasts that long but no ****ing way will i wear anything pink. Hate wearing a suit at the best of times let alone it being pink. Hes my mate so gotta stick with it even though it shits me no end.

yes but sadly , this is what the majority of the pathetic youth of today has been led to beleive is cool ! I can understand someones first car being four cylinder or even owning one in the battle to keep some of the change in your pocket that the oil companies are raping us anally to deprive us of, but unbeleivably some of these people seem to do some gallacticly stupid things to said cars and then actually show this creatoin to the world , in public, without warning, and do so with an equally gallacticaly stupid grin of pride wrapped around their dial as if we are all in awe of their individuality !

These people are are not realy to blame , as they have seen all the fast and furious documetry's 400 times and been to places and shows that will remain anonomous ( as undobtably we have some of the people in question in our midst)and want to have one just like the rad ride they fell in love with ! By the way, I tend to think that a salon is where girls go to have their hair styled and fingernails done !

But Each to their own , If they can do this to their own mode of transport well I beleive they are well equiped to take the attention they receive when showing it off to the world. What they see is poeple pionting and staring and wishing they had one just like it , But to all us that are doing the pointing and stareing, we ar actually trying to warn eachother of the possible danger we may all be in!

But thats just my true blue , bought up in the world of muscel cars, and possibly slightly homophobic , aussie male opinion on the subject !

Nothing wrong with a 4cyl if they are done up properly. I mean ive seen a pink excell and civic. FFS why would you bother unless you were a chick. Rice burners are all show and no go. I appreciate both muscle and hot 4s. Ive got a 4cyl and its cheap to run and goes reasonalbly well for what i paid (well parents paid). I wasnt allowed to get a 6 or 8 as my parents were paying and glad ive got a 4cyl since i know people complain bout insurance, shit handling, and being petrol guzzlers. My next car will most probably also be a 4cyl. Cheap to fix, cheap to mod and cheap to run. :

Escorts are 4 cyl, and go fairly well, not to mention can look good... But I'd never have pink paint or a pink interior!

The focus, TX3s, TX5s, and Cosworths are good aswell. They are gun. Ive seen only one ever. Parts are expensive as hell though. The only reason why ive got a ford is because Holden couldnt make a decent 4cyl to save their life. Camira Vs TX5. What decision is to be made there. Ive seen pink barinas lol. At least they are chick drivers

Guy guys, put the pink bits in your car (not those pink bits!), wear a pink shirt around with the collar up and all girlfriend related money issues will disapear!

Might get some boyfriend issues though....

Footnote:

The Mazda was still there this morning. Perhaps it's broken down? I spied more pinkness on it too... the rego plate... JEN-something. Clearly, a girl driver. Regretably, a drunk student hasn't walked past it during the night and stolen those pink hubcaps, though...

1. It was the Mazda, not the Camry, and therefore the driver is clearly a girl, as suggested by the rego plate. If I see the Camry again, I'm going to make use of the pink rubbing in the hope that I can grind them off with the doors of a very large Ford.

2. Leave a note? Are you mad? I can see it now... she'd only capitalise on the fact that I drive a ZH Fairlane painted in a lovely shade of red oxide primer with a black bonnet... that hardly makes me any better... lol. Although I can leave 100ft black stripes on the road if the mood takes me and I suspect that she cannot.

The pink 121/camry - destroy em!

What about that fully sick pink S2000 that the asian bird drives in Fast&Furious 2?
I'd have it - albeit retro-fitted with fairmont seats and black primer paint in very short order :P

Few things...

I just want to make sure everyone understands that purple in contrast to pink, is a manly and welcoming colour. As a matter fact, Mulberry is a very manly non-metro colour that should be celebrated in its wake.

Wild Violet, despite sounding like a 50yr old redneck prostitute, is ALSO a fantastic non-metro manly colour.

That is all.

I must agree, if only because I'm colourblind and can't tell blue and purple apart - purple looks either blue or pink to me, depending on how bright it is, I used to get laughed at when I was a kid because I apparently used to colour in the sky or rivers purple because I thought it was blue. So now whenever I see something that looks blue or pink to me, I ask LuvinmyEB what colour it is before I say anything else, LOL!

Seen some nice purple skylines around. Now that TT torana concept, the colour i spose doesnt represent the car. Its an alright colour but doesnt suit it. I think it has to be a pearl or metallic for it to work.

What's wrong with pink? I mean, personally I wouldn't want anything pink on the Falcon, but if some woman (or homosexual male) wants a pink car, what's wrong with that?
Perhaps it suits their personality. Attention seeking, plushy, and embarasses it's occupants
