Bloke rocked up at my door today wanting to buy an empty AU shell I have,
He only wants it for compliance plates so condition isnt important I was gonna keep it incase I ever got defected, but everythings for sale at the right price. Only thing is I got no idea what it would be worth for me to replace it if I ever needed another one. what would you all think an empty shell is worth.

Couple of hundred maybe?
Just out of curiosity, why would you need it if you got defected?

shell, pannels glass, doors.
The front quater is dented and the front and rear drivers doors are dented, but nothing structural. It even has carpet seats and a dash

i'd be concerned if anyone told me wants it for compliance plates sounds like it could be for rebirthing and I wouldn't want to do anything that helps them

Thats the only reason Ive kept it too because getting a defect lifted is near impossible especialy if you have alot of 'custom' work done, so who am I to hold that against him......

If you were swapping comp plates, wouldn't you have to put the car through RWC again to get reg? Would you end up simply fixing the things that were defected?

If you get defected however, kiss your car goodby coz theres no hope of getting it through regency unless your a millionaire. a bloke I know had a 6 month old corolla that he couldnt get through regency without a whole pile of hassles and all he was defected for was something simple like a blown tail light or headlight or something. The trick to this is swap numberplates with a wrecked car that hasnt been written off, alot of the time it works out a hell of a lot cheaper, just dont get caught or you end up with a mamoth fine!

hey robbo if he had to put his corolla through regency it must have been defected for alot more then that. My au got defected for being to low, to loud from the exhaust and blown head light.
All i had to was raise the suspension change he exhaust and head light golbe to take ti my local cop shop and the defect was lifted. |

i think it depends on the cop, 3 or more minor things and it cant be cleared through the cop shop if the cop wrights regency on the slip, or if the cop classes it as major on the slip, they can direct you to regency and then the cop shop cant clear it either. he mustve got a dick of a cop, coz I remember him going on and on about it having to go back and fourth 3 or 4 times and the last time they told him he needed to get a steam clean before theyd clear it. I thought it was pretty funny at the time, but he didnt after he spent a fortune on it!
