Hey woudl it be difficult to put a fairmont ghia dash in to Au2 forte? Besides the dash what else woudl i need from a fairmont ghia to make all the climate control features work?

whats the difference between the TE and TS dash's then?? i thought they were both that black colour??

In series 3, TE is XR/Forte based, while TS is fairmont based. In series 1 & 2, TE is fairmont based, and TS is fairmont ghia based. It's not so much about the colour, but the electrical connections, and cluster and climate control differences.

It can be done. It was easier for me because the TE had a high series wiring loom to begin with. Starting with the Forte wiring loom could be an issue - there are quite a few differences in the loom. You would most likely need the entire interior of the Fairmont including the loom and high series BEM. And yes, you do have to use the Fairmont heater box - the climate control cannot be adapted to the Forte heater. You also have to use the Fairmont instrument panel as the Forte one will have lots of errors.
When I did mine, the entire Fairmont dash complete with heater box cost me $1000 from a forum member - it was cheap at the time. Today I guess the second hand prices would be lower, but I still think you'd probably expect to pay about that amount for a complete dash and heater and loom. And then there's the labour - probably a very full weekend for a DIYer if you are confident. Or a full day in a Ford workshop for a professional to do it for you at a labour cost of probably $80 per hour. |

Hey i have handy a complete ts50 body shell layign around my mates yard. SO besides the dash and loom and heater box what else would i need? I was thinking of putting all the ts50 electrics in to my forte but im not sure how difficult it would be?

the same procedure in AU1 or 2/3 except you wont need to buy another ECU. You will need to use your existing one then get ford or a mechanic who has the computer to do a parameter reset. you will need a passenger side mirror off a ghia too and all the acctutors off the heater / ac for the climate control. one other thing as this is wired for traction control you'll need a ghia engine harness and T/C ABS unit
