I was wondering if there is anyone that has fitted a 351 windsor into the AU XR8 as i am looking to do this to mine but am unsure of the differences between this and the 302 that came in it .I am aware that the inlet and exhaust manifolds are different but what else is E.G sump and any thing else

have thought about the option that you mentioned but then found out you can stroke the 351 to 408 this is my intension at the moment but that could change if it gets to hard with too many diferences

I ran an EFI 351W both with and without a vortech S/C, before going in current direction, the engine fits in the bay just 1 inch taller in height, all pulleys need to be amended to space out to line up, you need a 351 EFI lower their are a few available, (Ford M/S, TFS etc) you will need to have a set of extractors made up as the 302 ones dont fit back in again, you need a sump made to fit, you need to convert block to rollor can if you want to go this direction or use the retro fit lifters, you will need to think bigger one all counts. pm me if you would like any details etc.
You also need to sort out the timing issues with either a dissy blank or something like the msd unit, their was a kit made in the states a while ago for this as well. I ran a dizzy shaft with no cap modified to give a crank angle trigger to aftermarket computer I would go the stroker if I were to do this again with a motorsport block that you can also stroke out just as far these days check out the new 'Boss' motorsport block. Also if you want to run it on the street you may have some concerns with rego and insurance etc so best check these as well. |
