you don't install a flash tuner you just plug it in and load a tune they supply generic tunes for about $150 AFAIK and this would be a good way to get rid of your cash or you could donate it to my favourite charity (my car)

there are a few shops on the southside that deal with flash tuners...

the brock shop.. and powertorque are 2 that come to mind.. i've never dealt with either.. so i can't say if i recommend them or not...

if you are looking to buy a flash tuner and go somewhere to get some tunes.. i'm selling my flash tuner for $450 ono.. well need to be unlocked and new tunes installed... i might call up and find price for unlocking and possibly sell unlocked ready for new tunes....

Check the sponsors' forums and ECU forum, there are some offers in there. I bought a flash tuner last month from KPM in Adelaide pre-loaded with 3 generic tunes, $595 plus $15 P&H. They post to anywhere in Oz, you plug the box in, follow a half-page of instructions which come with the tuner but are also here: http://www.capa.com.au/ford_flash_tu...structions.htm, and less than 5 minutes later are ready to go. I think KPM are now doing them for $495.

I think RDP in Brissie have a deal as well, they can also custom tune your car on their dyno later if you do mods (eg camshaft or turbo) that need a retune to get the most of. CAPA have a list of dealers on their website so you can find other locals. BPT in WA can also do generic tunes by mail order, I'm sure there are others as well.

Check this thread http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=110685 for other people's experiences with generic tunes.

+1 for a generic flash tune. Best BFYB mod I've done.

I'd have it lowered to at least XR height first, if not done already. Such a mod looks great every time you see your car. Great value for money mod IMO.

All the best with your deliberations though, and Happy Belated Birthday!

Cheers,

GK

You get the generic tunes free with the box, and you can load them yourself. A custom tune can be quite expensive, but Im happy with what a generic tune has given me so far.

Suspension ... front control arm bushes are a nice upgrade as well.

If already lowered (but still have stock shocks) ... some GOOD gas shocks all round.
