Having worked in the taxi industry myself for 7 years (not as a driver) - I have seen both sides of the fence.
The problem is that not many Aussies want to be a cab driver and depots are struggling at times to put drivers into cars; albeit decent ones. Here's an interesting link: http://www.theage.com.au/news/nation...941402627.html

Ride a motorcycle through city traffic on a daily basis and you'll quickly come to realise that taxis are your worst enemy - the u-turns are the biggest problem.
White Van Man is second on the list. Then Mobile Phone Girl. Anyway, on topic - I wonder if some bunch of drunken bums just pushed it off the jack...
