hi all, i am wanting to install a new headunit (cd player) into my falcon but dont no how to take the old cassette player out, i can see that there are 2 holes on either side of the unit and am wondering what i need to take it out with.
and another thing is how do i take out the actual centre dash that surrounds the cassette player. this is because i might need more room to get to the wires and other things. any help would be great. thanks |

there are heaps of threads on this sort of thing currently...but, the holes are for the security devices to pull the unit out...any car audio installer has these and more often then not are only to happy to pull the unit out for you.....whether they charge you for it or not is up to them. you dont need to pull any of the dash out to reach the wiring as its all there right behind the radio cassette. plus most audio/auto stores sell universal wiring looms that will plug into the orginal stereo loom. what your main problem will be is if you have single DIN or double DIN factory head unit. my series one had a single DIN unit with pocket underneath....excelent for clean swap with most aftermarket headunits. however my series 2 wagon has a double DIN unit...so i either need to spend extra money on a unit to suit, or spend money to get the pocket and change to single DIN unit......too many choices just remember that unless you spend the extra money or know your wiring really well (i think there is actually a topic in here somewhere about how to do it) you will lose the use of the steering wheel controls
hope this has helped you col
