Pinched this from another forum, sorry if its a repost.
Somewhere in North Melbourne, apparently the guy was racing around (or so the witnesses said), car pulled in front and he put it through a small brick fence and partway through the double brick the wall. You can see from the inside pics where a chair has flown across the room and stuck into the wall http://www.performanceforums.com/for...3&d=1196672982 http://www.performanceforums.com/for...4&d=1196672991 http://www.performanceforums.com/for...5&d=1196673001 http://www.performanceforums.com/for...0&d=1196672949 http://www.performanceforums.com/for...1&d=1196672960 http://www.performanceforums.com/for...2&d=1196672969 No one was hurt, round of applause for crumple zones. |

Especially ironic considering its a furniture import place. If i owned it, i'd be leaving the chair right were it is as a talking point.

lol thats a good idea, call them, aint there a number on the sign?
the front of that car makes me sad :( pretty funny though.. doesnt look like chassis damage although there probly is some. the left hand side doors are damaged, dented inwards and the righthand drivers door isnt closed properly so thats why there is such a gap

In before someone blames the furniture store for keeping chairs on the wall. By the looks of the other chairs it looks like it started on one wall, and ended on the other.

Uhh Am I the only one that thinks that chair is BS. no way could that happen. It's a furniture place. That chair was already on that wall for sure. No way could it shoot and stick in so neatly without any other obvious damage to it.

The wall that its in doesn't look that solid, i think i could throw a chair at it and get it to stick like that I'd be worried about getting hit by the flying chair, but i'd be more concerned about the pile of bricks that landed underneath it. |

I no what you are saying mate, but some of the fibre boards used in the building industry are quite soft, you could almost cut them with a butter knife and it would be quite legitimate for something like a chair to penetrate it provided it was moving quick enough, but like you say it looks very neatly placed. |

He/She Could have swerved to miss something or put it into drive instead of reverse then pushed the accelerator down instead of the brake as has happened to many over the years. Dont just see a turbo or V8 badge and think you know what happened. |

The chair in the wall isn't neat at all.. and you only have to look at the damage to the rest of the wall to see that its possible to penetrate it.
To put his car through a brick wall, and get that much air he must have been going at a decent rate of speed.

ok maybe.... just maybe it's possible. wouldnt there be some visable damage to the chair?
It does seem a little strange that a place would want to mount a chair on its wall but in the name of art who knows? Just look at that stupid empty hotel by some highway in vic there going to build. |
