Hi, can anyone tell me if they have had a similar problem with there au ute. It has a cabin water leak on the left hand side which pools up under the left hand lower dash somewhere then as you drive off dumps the water right next to the computer or kick panel.I have checked the front plenum chamber as well as the windscreen area and all appears to be clear with no visiable rust. also the door seals seam to look perfect This ute is a 02 model and only travelled just over 100k. this issue is anoying the hell out of me and seems to only happen with moderate to heavy rain. The weird thing is that i can wash the car and it does not leak, so if anyone can shead some light on this matter it is very much appreciated.thanks greg..

Usually from a Past Recollection of Posts that this has something to do with the Firewall having a Crack in it ... Might Pay to do a Search

Left hand side of the car or left hand side of the drivers side footwell? I'd hazard a guess if its left side of the drivers footwell that your ute is a manual and like AU2PWR said, probably a crack in your firewall where the clutch cable comes through.

Mine does the same thing. Series 3 Sedan XR8 auto. I've heard thier's a weld along under the windscreen that cracks. not sure how true this is as the windscreen has to be removed to do it and i havent done mine yet.

Passengers side of the car is probably the AIr-Con. You'll have to check the air-con drip tray outlet hose, its probably blocked

thanks for replies guys, but most of you are not hearing me, it is not from the ac because the problem only exist when it is raining and also it is only the passenger side next to ecu not the drivers side and nowhere near the fuse box plus the car is auto, thanks.. :

I have a similar problem with my au3 auto sedan, water leaking in from above the fan resistor and running down behind the glove box onto the floor when it rains. No leaks when the air con is working or when i wash my car.My car is under extended warranty so i took the car back to the dealer last week and they could not locate the source of the leak again.I have to rebook the car in again for them to remove the dash this time, i have no choice.I did give them some ideas of what could be the problem thanks to the forums but in one ear and out the other.I also had the windscreen checked at a windscreen place for any leaks all ok.
Do a search on this forum, type in "water leak passenger side" and you see my thread plus others. Also do some searching on the other ford forums. Some ideas i have looked at are: 1. Water leaking in from windscreen seal and running down behind the A pillar trim. 2. Cracks in the firewall and in the corner behind the washer bottle.Use a hose on the firewall to check. Also check for any damage or missing grommets in the firewall. 3.Cracks in the plenum chamber and poor drainage. Hope this info helps. |

Just replaced the antenna on my XR8 and there is a grommet sitting just behind the ecu. If thats not sitting correctly or is perished it may be a point of leakage. Its worth a look.
