Default Unbelievable Maybach sales in Australia for 2007

Source: http://www.caradvice.com.au/9243/unb...-in-australia/

During 2007, ultra-luxury brand Maybach managed to sell an unbelievable amount of its cars to Australian buyers, zero to be exact - told you it was unbelievable.

Despite being the first year ever Australian’s have purchased over a million new cars, Maybach contributed nothing to that total, failing to entice a single buyer.

This is not to say wealthy Australian’s still prefer Holden’s and Ford’s over ultra-exclusive luxury brands - Aston Martin (44.1 percent), Ferrari (43.6 percent), Maserati (25.2 percent), Lamborghini (21.1 percent), Porsche (19.6 percent) and Bentley (17.6 percent) all experiencing sales growth in 2007 - even Rolls Royce managed to sell 17 cars, 5 more than in 2006.

I was getting my trans serviced and while waiting me and my bro took a walk down to the shops to have lunch. To our surprise their was a ferrari (possibly enzo) with front bar and rear bar off and up on a hoist. The place was the smallest mechanics shop you could imagine and didn't look very inviting.

Either the guy is a fantastic mechanic or only trusts himself with his pride and joy .

This wasn't in Fortitude Valley here in Brisbane by any chance was it? If so, I know the workshop you're talking about and they're Ferrari nuts there.

Understandable at their price. Even if i could afford to own one and service it and whatever , id get a Aston Martin or something. The Maybach has no cred really, not compared to say a Rolls Royce, Bentley, Ferrari.

In fact id probably get an Aston, a Lexus LS, a boat and probably a Cessna 172 for the money instead of the maybach.

Not sure if that is entirely true. I did see a Maybach 6.2 (RHD) last November exiting a Shell Servo on the corner of Warrigal Road and Centre Dandenong Road in Cheltenham at approx 3:10pm. They've ugly but boy did it move when the driver hit the accelerator without a sound. The refinement in this car is phenomenal.

EDIT: I do also recall seeing Maybach at the Melbourne Motor show a year or two ago and taking orders.

I only know of one guy who's purchased a Maybach. He liked it so much he got a 2nd one, but sadly he's no longer with us. I don't think Maybach buyers spend their coin looking for 'cred' though. Somewhere like Monaco where Ferrari's, S600L's and the like are a dime a dozen I'm sure there would be a few buyers. I'm amazed they even have an office in Australia really. Would I be correct in guessing it's linked to a Benz Dealership?

You don't buy a Maybach to drive though, you buy one to have someone drive you in it. The photo up the top, isn't that a prototype?

That's the Maybach Excelero, just a concept car that came to Motorshow 2 years ago in Sydney.

Here's the offending beast...
