Default Fuel Consumption Skyrocketing!!

Hmmm how does 300 kays out of a tank sound??? That's bloody worse than a V8.

The car has a bit of a miss at idle. Any ideas what is going on??
Do I need to clean the intake, manifold, injectors etc???
Should I be using Iridium plugs instead of el cheapos??

If this consumption keeps up I'm guna have to walk :

I"d be checking for a dead MAP sensor, or slow / faulty 02 sensors. Nearly guarantee its one of the two. Maybe a bit of both.

Cleaning your manifold, t-body etc isn't gonna make a difference in this case. Might fix your idle up a little, but won't do much for your fuel consumption.

drip...... drip...... drip.........

Dads XF went from 450km / tank to around 300km / tank.....

Did all the usual cheaks lol, till I actually got under the car to notice a small yet continious leak from the fuel pump that only happened while running.....

Just a thought???

I'd be looking for bad earth's, if had a couple lately with misses at idle and bad consumption purely caused cause the earth wires/terminals had corroded and wen't conducting well enough. Seems to be more the ones around the battery.

Noticed in your other thread about your exhaust you mention that your exhaust is blowing a lot of fuel so to speak - obviously running rich so as suggested it's most likely a sensor somewhere causing this.
