Default Shell Has Run Out Of Vpower Petrol

Went to Fill up today, and was shocked to find There was no VPower (ie Premium unleaded).
Found this strange as the Tanker was there filling up the Main tanks for the service station. So i asked the clerk if the Tanker was filling up the tank with Vpower he did not know.
Long story short i asked the driver and he told me that Shell is out of Vpower for the next couple of days due to a crack in a refinery silo. Not sure how truthful that is but nevertheless thought it is interesting and thought i would share it.

Same thing always happens with Shell and E10.
I try and fill up at the low end of the cycle and they never have any left at about 3 different servos that I frequent, so it wouldn't suprise me if they did the same with V Power :

filled up last night in Melbourne with V-Power and there was plenty. Must be just a Sydney thing.

Mental Note - Never buy this car

Why would you put such crap fuel in your car?? They do all sorts of nasty things to get the price that cheap - like metho or too much ethanol.

The Shell servo's in Rockhampton are always running out of the Vpower. It doesn't bother me to much in my runabout but if i take the XY for a drive i just go straight to Bp now for Ultimate.

There was a fire at a refinery in Sydney 2 days ago? Perhaps it's linked?

When our town first got the V-Power i tried it and wasnt happy compared to the BP ultimate, didnt feel as responsive and out on the Highway it was pinging in the higher revs, i thought maybe its because the tanks are all new so i waited a few months and tried again, same result so i didnt bother giving it a third try. I have run BP Ultimate in the Ute (XR8) since i've had it and its tuned for 98 octane which is what V-Power is but my motor didnt like it.

When I first put the 98 Octane tune in my Ute I tried Ultimate mainly because it is so Highly regarded on this Forum & straight away I was using approx 2 litres per 100 k's more than before I filled up with it & car seemed down on power.

I then tried V-Power & it was better, however I mainly run the Caltex 98 Octane & find it gives me good economy & engine runs smooth.

Has anyone in a large City tried the 100 Octane V-Power?

I've been using nothing but V-Power the last couple of tanks, I find I get more km's (50-100) out of each tank, don't really notice much performance increase though.

Filled up this morning with it, almost thought when I saw the title of this thread that our precious country was out altogether!

Simple answer,

Father in Law works at the shell refinery where they blend petrol for multiple brands.
Due to a shortage of raw materials they have barely enough to manufacture (refine) normal unleaded, so are flat out doing that to keep up with demand. The higher octane fuels are on hold as they are not as important to them when thay are under pressure to produce enough unleaded to keep up with demand.

My local servo was out of V power yesterday for the first time.

I always seem to get more K's from the V power i get from another one (about 40 minutes out of my way). I'm not sure why, it should be exactly the same fuel, but there is a big difference.

I have had the same problem with Ultimate. Local servo 98 gets better economy than a higher turnover BP on the highway near to work. This is in my company car and I only do consistent hwy kays.
This has happened a few times. Local Servo I get 720-740km per tank. Hwy servo I only get 670-690 km per tank.

I had to take the GT home the other day and park it because it was nearly empty and both the local Mobil's were out of 98.. : I wasnt prepared to risk the drive elsewhere to find they're out as well and i'll only use Synergy 8000... I was NOT HAPPY.

V-power racing (100 RON) is being discontinued, no std v-power (98 RON) Read it closer.

I Have run Mobil 8000, Bp Ultimate and V-Power. I find absolutely no difference at all, power and economy wise.
I stick with V-power as the missus gives me Coles 4c Dockets (Yes I know....but you get ripped off where ever you go) + Shell only charge 10c more then regular unledded, not 11 or 12 like BP and Mobil.
