Default Got A speeding fine yesterday

Got my firts speeding fine for close to five years yesterday and I had no excuse for it, but what is it with $220 and 3points for under 15klms over the limit. The $220 hurts, but I am more anoyed with the 3 points. Make it worse it was in my girlfreinds new focus not in my V8's.

What? so Steve Bracks was in the car with him, controlling his feet?

NO doubt about it the super strict enforcement here in Victoria has made me drop my average speed just a little so I don't get fined. Interestingly I've had the the same number of accidents as before. NONE.

The drop in $$ and triple the point for < 15 over was done a few years ago to prove it isn't revenue raising but road safety

In WA over Christmas they had double the fine, double the demerits from till the 6th Jan. I think that is harsh but it does slow people down.

Was it only 3 points. I thought with double demerits over the long weekend, that would be 6 points???

Victoria doesn't have double demerits for holidays and under his avatar he says he's from country Vic. I know NSW does, do any other states have double demerits?

I have a sure fire legal way to avoid all speeding fines AND it works all the time.

DON'T PHARKEN SPEED!

I do about on average 600k's a week and I can't remember that last time I got a fine, in fact with my last licence renewal I got a discount for good driving behaviour, I framed the letter and showed my sons to prove that it is actually possible.

I was doing doing about 800-1000klms for the past 7 years with only one minor fine in all that time, the other day was just, a case of not paying attention. MY BAD!

I got the same discount when I got my full license doesn't mean I agree with the excessive use of speed cameras or many of the posted limits around the state both high and low. If you're going to attempt to brainwash people into believing under the limit = safe at least make the posted limits realistic.

The discount doesn't mean you don't speed, just never caught.

No deletion for avoiding the filter? :

someone should go and spraypaint those fixed cameras.

Just revenue raising, getting people doing a few km over the limit.

Cruise control is a wonderful thing, even works in long 60km/h zones, but not at 40km/h - bugger.

Cruise doesnt work in Burnley tunnel on the down hill section (my car picks up the 5 k's or so that can give me a ticket - I can control this by changing down into 3rd)
Cruise also isnt a good idea on the Princess Hwy near Berwick where the speed limit changes 7 times in a 2km section of road.

Doing less than the speed limit doesnt make you a good driver - I saw a driver today, they were doing 90k's in the right hand land of the M1 and then they realised they needed to turn left, so they simply tried to cut across traffic - net result he/she almost caused an accident and ended up stranded on the median. Yet they will most likely never receive a speeding fine.
