Are AU auto and manual tail shafts interchangeable?

This probably isn't helpful, but I believe they are (provided they're from a like vehicle, ie wagon & wagon, ute to ute etc)

they should be, not sure on au's, but on the manual ea i used to have, the tail shaft had a weight type thing just after the extension housing on the gearbox, it was a big circular thing attached to the tail shaft, probably like some sort of balancing weight

Sorry GK, as per my message, I'm 99% sure they are not. Check the lengths of them, but you will either have to modify your auto one, or find a manual one.
