Have a look at this,
http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/s...9-3102,00.html A HOLDEN Monaro has become the most expensive Australian car after selling for $920,000 – to a Queensland bloke wearing shorts and thongs. The HRT 427 was one of two built in 2002 to showcase Holden and HSV's engineering prowess. The other is in Holden's concept car collection and is not for sale. The previous record was $750,000 for a Ford Falcon 1971 GTHO Phase III, sold last June.

Did I read somewhere recently that the car isn't even a proper spec version, that its missing a whole lot of pieces that the one HSV have has fitted.

Nonetheless is one word. Spelt comes up as wrong but is in fact correct, so is spelled but it's more an Americanism. |

Ridiculous is it not that any OLD Vehicle fetches this amount of Money.
As far as I am concerned a 70's model vehicle such as a Monaro is not worth more than a few thousand unless it has been to Chip Fouse lol Most of the old Models are nothing compared to Modern Machines & only because they are now rare they fetch this much & not because they are that good. And of course fools willing to pay large amounts does not help. Are people Mad? My XR6 NA Ute is better in every way that say my 78 XC Fairmont GXL 5.8L, well apart from the Exhaust note & the Burnouts it used to be able to do which by the way now I think are crazy also lol Crazy! |

But in your response to "buying a HOlden badge", there are people who would question the thought processes of a person paying 750k for a GTHO. Works both ways. Hope this person enjoys their Monaro.

To some degree it is 21st century version of the Bill Bourke special but will lose much of its lustre when the factory version is available later in 2008.
I just wish I had the money to indulge like that, good luck to him. I don't mind whether it is Ford or GM, good luck to anyone with that much commitment to their passion. |
