Default Air Intake on AUII 5 litre.

Was thinking of making polished 3" intake. was wondering if that circular tube that comes off the factory air intake tube, has to be there. whats it for anyone know?

It's a resonance tube. If you remove it, you need to block up the hole (55mm or 60mm PVC pipe end works). You will then know why it's there - the induction roar is heaps louder with it off.

There's not much to be gained by using a chrome intake pipe, except for looks.

It is getting a pod in the box and larger snorkel also. Was just wondering about that tube.

What sort of $$$ are the intakes worth ?
Also would there be a performance loss due to heat and the metal as i love the look of them.
