Which series Mondeo are we talking about here ? I believe the series that I own, the 'H' series, has belts, but am not sure about the later series though ....
Being belts, and very much like the mitsubishi engine cam belts, they must be changed religiously unless you want to play russian roulette with your engine.

Just checked my service manual and it has no mention of changing either! but from memory and I stand to be corrected the petrol have belts while the diesel has chains again while reading up on the Mondeo I came across the very same question,why not ring Ford and ask them if its that important for you to know!

apstar has the good info!!
The 2.0 and 2.5 petrol engines in the current Mondeo are belt drive, the current diesels (2.0 and 2.2) in the Mondeo are chain drive. |
