Default XE Rear Drag Suspension

I'm thinking about buying an XE and throwing my 9" rear in it (weld on few brackets and spring mounts). Just wondering if anyone has had much experience with the 4 trailing arm type suspension.

I see you can get aftermarket adjustable uppers (for pinion angle adjustment). How does this effect the upper and lower spring mount geometry?

Mainly for drag racing. Not quite the full 4 link, but it would be nice to fit some adjustable front mounting points for the lower arms to play with IC's etc.

friends of mine have a couple here in Perth and the more street orientated one still runs factory trailing arms with nolethane bushes, also has a torque arm I think. She has run a 10.30 from memory.

Could you not weld in upper torque box to accept same length as lower ??
If its mainly drag?? Depends on rules and class your running in..

Thanks guys..........well, if a chick can pull a 10.3, I'd be happy with a 10.9 lol ;)

I'd run in S/ST, but with an 11.0 lower limit (and 98dB ) , I would like to run consistent 10's so it looks like SS/A when setup right.

Just reading the rules..........looks like 4 link type setups are good to go with no real restrictions on the rear setup.

I'll see if I can get a look under one and see what may need cutting out under the floor.

MY XE HAS STANDARD REAR SUSPENSION AND RAN 11.3 @ 124MPH WITH A BORG WARNER DIFF. I'M CONVERTING IT TO 9 INCH AT THE MOMENT IT'S ALMOST FININSHED. IT HAS 401 RWHP AND WITH THE NEW REAR END I'M HOPING TO RUN HI 10'S. I THINK THE REAR END WILL HOLD UP FINE, ALL I DID WHEN I GOT THE CAR WAS PUT NEW BUSHES IN THE TRAILING ARMS AND NEW SHOCKS, SO FAR SO GOOD!

Beauty about SS/A is you get to dial your own index so not neccassarily the quickest car wins

I've just bought an XF that will be running in this class also so guess i'll see ya on the track

Yep thats the one, She races that at the Fast Fridays and her other race car at National meets. I think She's run a 10.20 in the silver car. AFD headed 393 in the silver car and CHI headed in the green car. New big block coming for the green car and the CHI headed going into a 3/4 chassis corty for hubby to play with. Hope everyone has a seat when the music stops.

The torque arm setup is available from WA Suspensions.

I got 3 out of 5 gears on my 2nd last run, and only 1st gear on my last run So we have a good learning trend there ;)

I didn't think about running the rear leafs and current setup which would be nice. I could always go XD with XE panels........

I guess I could simply weld on the front and rear leaf spring mounts and she'll be good to go......and the upper shock mounts. I'm sure that wouldn't be too hard.

adrian, contact paul (xf1101) he runs an 2v xf sedan that runs 10.60 and it leaves awesome, just pm him and he might be able to point you in the right direction.
why dont you just stick to your caltracs?

Ive been thinking about them mono leafs Adrian,seen some circuit guys running them even,seem to be the hot ticket...

Certainly seems an easier option with the amount of people running them..

Adrian,

I feel your plight with the old cart springs in the rear.

It crossed my mind the other day about modifying the rear end to accept an XE trailing arm rear end.

If you give it a crack then I just might too........

ive got a 9" in the rear of my xe, all i have done is bought new upper and lower arms, i think i bought them from repco. i purchased the boxed tubes. they seem to work fine
car has gone 10.50@128mph
