Was sitting in the car at the weekend cleaning the inside glass and thought the seatbelt clips have never been cleaned, thought while I have the metal polish out.......then thought that really is going too far, so didnt do it. I do polish the underside of the bonnet and boot lid. Is this too much? How far do other people go with cleaning and polishing?

i've polished my car 3 times after i had a professional buff around 2 months ago and it's only been driven once for maybe half an hour. I just love seeing it so clean and smooth in the garage |

I hate cleaning my car, the most mundane task ever. I'd rather be at work then wash my car. Honestly

Thats not too far at all. A good pro detail will do all that and will clean the dust from the felt window seals, detail all the rubber seals and things like that. Its never too clean. My favorite being a nicely detailed race spec interior/boot with no trim and the paint on the floor and inside the boot nicely polished

Is the fact that I have bits of hay throughout the back seat and boot reflect badly on me?
It needs a clean badly, but is there any point in winter for the daily driver?

I must vacuum out the hay though, before sheep take up residence in my car.

I agree with satria, I thought most car fanatics(as on this site), would be always cleaning their car! I clean mine weekly, inside and out, windows daily, etc.

I used to do that. Even cleaned and polished inside the engine bay, brake calipers etc.
Then I got married and had kids. Now I haven't even washed it for over 6 months ;-( |

Well I spray my car with hose every night after work due to the fact that my dad roars in the driveway which is dirt so sand on silver paint shows up.
Washed a few times, haven't polished yet love to wash but hate doing inside. But gets annoying when you doing every night.

Wash? Car? The concept is unfamiliar to me... I've owned cars for years and NEVER washed them. The FBT used to get done once a fortnight, the current XR6 has been done once. Since January.

i wonder if those people who don't bother cleaning their cars because 'they'll only get dirty again', bother to clean themselves seeing as how they'll only get dirty again.

i find its much easier to keep a car clean through regular washing than let it get so dirty it needs a cut 'n polish just to bring it back close to the colour it should be. |

Every friday after midday when I'm supposed to be inside studying for my degree.
The XR cops: Wash Chamois Turtle wax ice water spray. engine bay dusted down Windows inside and out interior fully vacuumed and dash/facias/etc cleaned. Boot vacuumed (if I've used it) Wheels polished and then tyres shined Exhaust tip polished with metal polish Clean inside the wheel arches. use tyre shine on all the rubbers. Sometimes I even get a toothbrush and hit the cavitys where the wheel nuts are Anddd that's about it! Something special about seeing you reflection in nicely washed and detailed white car! Ohh did I add I also have about 8 Miller's Chill during the course of this?
