Define Big $$??? I know Ford Dealers that charge $99 for a service for a basic service, and others that charge a lot more. I used to pay around $200 for my minor services and had a brilliant relationship with htem, couldn't recommend them more highly - Bayford Epping (Melbourne)

Tend to agree with Zetec. Make a few calls and find out for sure. There are also running changes, software upgrades etc that need to be done along the way which only a Ford dealer could do.

we do a lot of servicing of in warranty cars of makes and models, due to whatever reason ... we have to use genuine oil filters, that is pretty much teh only requirement we have

Ultratune was significantly cheaper for me (I took it there after the warranty expired) and if I had to do it all over again, I'd probably choose Ultratune while it was still under warranty.
I was rather annoyed that I had to pay $110 for a reco on a handbrake that never worked (and under the warranty period) that still only worked for about 10 applications. I'd given up on it, had taken it to Ultratune without mentioning the handbrake, and was rather surprised when I picked the car up. 3 months later, handbrake was still doing its job. I wouldn't say that the Ford service I was getting was bad, apart from the fact that they couldn't do squat with the handbrake in my manual car. I just didn't see the value in what they were charging compared to Ultratune. The cost was around double for an XR8, and I'd also have someone calling me up trying to sell me snakeoil even though I had advised not to when dropping the car off. |
