Guys, thanks for all your help and for the fellowship but ... gulp ...
I traded the AU for a BF wagon. It is silly to get emotional about machines but I did feel sad to say good bye to her. It was a choker, like at the end of the movie Babe where the farmer says "That'll do pig." I just gave her a pat and walked away. The wagon had done over a 260,000. She was still straight and running fine. It was either keep her and drive her into the ground or bail now and trade-up to something with low kms. It makes an interesting shaped graph to plot the buying price against distance travelled. You'd have to have bulk money to buy a new car just to watch the resale fall like a stone in a real short amount of time. See yez!

Don't worry ... i traded my AUII ute with 285,000km on it in for a BFII ute with 85,000km on it.
I was looking at a new ute ... but that changed and I bought an 18 month old vehicle with most of the deprectiation on it done. I do miss the old AU ... it has served me well and has handled all the work/abuse I have given it ... and it handled it well ... I enjoyed every kilometre in it. It would have to have been one of the better vehicles I have bought ... I have got my money's worth out of it .. and it really paid for itself and more in the end anyway.

At least you never did what I did (twice) and that was give them to the kids. Tore my heart out to see them run them into the ground. You did the right thing, and more then likely traded a great car for an even better one. Happy motoring :
