Default No Ford Dealers on Parramatta Road?!

I was looking for a Ford Dealer in Sydneys Motor Car Rd (Parramatta Rd, Sydney, Theres one in Parra, but not on the Car sales stretch) today. Not being a local, I had NO IDEA that there are NONE! There was 2-3 Holdens, 3 Toyota's, 3 Mitsu's, 2 Audis, a SangYong joint, and others, even a Rallyart, but NO FORD?!!?!?!?! What that heck? Does Ford think that they dont need to compete in the sales market or something?

This got me thinking... Is this an isolated thing. Are there well known New and Used car Lots in other places that are missing the Blue Oval?

According to other threads on this site Jubilee Ford at Five Dock had their lease run out and there were other issues.

Fury Ford at Silverwater closed down some years ago.

There's still a fair number of dealerships in Sydney but they're spread out some.

I don't think it's that big of a deal if there's no Ford yards on Parramatta Rd, there are several dotted around the vacinity of... I bought my first car on Parramatta Rd but the last ~15 weren't.

The last two I recall, one's now a supercentre and the other is a Volkswagen dealer. Had they both felt they were prime locations for car sales then they probably would still be there. They used to have a few yards on 'Auto Alley' just off Parra Rd but I think they've also scaled them down too. When I think car yards, Parra Rd just doesn't instantly pop into my head.

Rod is correct.
Parramatta Road isn't the drawcard it used to be in the past. Might be ok for fleets, I don't know, but it isn't an attractive location for business.
People don't like to travel around looking for cars anymore, and being located near new developments is a more ideal location for growth for the long term.

The fastest growing dealerships for Peter Warren Automotive is Macarthur Automotive, specifically Narellan. To those who don't know, it's in the far southwest outskirts of the Sydney metro area. They are new suburbs, fairly well off population and a relaxed feel of the location makes it ideal.

People tend to research cars and dealers on the internet first and visit only one or two usually as apposed to the 5 or 6 in the past. So location sometimes has little to do with where people buy.

in my local area there is a ford dealer at waitara - also sells fpv. On the same street there is a peugeot, holden(inc used), mazda, toyota, honda and a reno(i think). then in pennant hills there is Barry smith holden, hyundai, toyota, audi. then again at castle hill its about the same as waitara again except with alot of workshops..

and from what i see whilst driving wherever holden dealerships outnumber ford about 2 to 1

Rental and properties value may have something to do with it also ??

Dont forget my original question is... "Are there well known New and Used car Lots in other places that are missing the Blue Oval?"

Or more to the point, where ISN'T there a Blue Oval that you'd think really needs one?

In Newcastle the Ford vs Holden ratio is about 1:1.

But I know of other places like Fev that Holden seems to have more dealers by far to Ford.

I see your point Ratt, but surely the fact that Holden are out selling Fords might have something to do with availability?

True, its only one owner, but there are a few yards to chose from, depending where you live. WISH there was more competition in Newy, Kloster really needs to be pushed a little, and made a little more honest.

Talking Klosters Newcastle

Went to Klosters to buy a new FG XR8 took the BA XR8 with 74k on it to be valued. Before doing so I looked at 2 second hand xr,s one with 13ok and one with 33k on it priced at 26k and 33k. Figured mine would be worth about 30k the valuation was 18k on an immaculate car so I took my car to sydney got 26k for it and spent more money and bought an FPV if we had competition in newcastle you would not need to go to sydney to GET REAL DEALS. not sad that klosters missed a sale but they have done this to me twice now and I just wont waste my time there again. Got to love a V8 FPV.

Jubilee's closure has left a big hole IMO.

I live at Five Dock. There isn't really another Ford dealer within 25 minutes drive of here.

The closest would be Brad Garlick at Ryde, but he's on the north side and I never go that way. Next best would be City Ford at East Sydney, but I avoid going into the city if at all possible.

At the moment Dale Ford are doing the service work. They picked up a number of the Jubilee guys anyway. They are at Bankstown, and I have a client about 10 minutes from there, so I try to co-ordinate my services with visits to that client. It's still PITA though.

LMAO.

I just tried Ford's "Dealer Locator"

Dealer Locator

I typed in my postcode, and figured it would tell me who the closest delaer is.

Instead, I get:

No Search Result

Search results for 2046
0 result(s)

The dealer details you have entered could not be matched to a Ford Dealer.
Please make sure you have entered the details correctly.

So. unless you know the postcode of the dealer you want, the "dealer locator" won't search and find it for you. Kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

[Edit] It seems to work for some postcodes and not others. Pretty weak effort.

I got some results when I typed in 2041 (Balmain), 2121 (Ryde), and 2200 (Bankstown). No results for 2046 (Five Dock), 2137 (Concord), 2685 (Portland, NSW).

There is a new car dealership just down the road on Church St. I think over time that the dealerships have been split with most new car dealers sitting on Church St and used dealers on Parramatta Road. Could have something to do with a focus on walk in sales as opposed to people actually shopping around for a car. The Ford dealership is positioned so that a s$$tload of people see it as they drive to the Westfield Shopping Centre.

I have been to Winford (McGraths Hill), Power (Castle Hill) and Sinclair (Penrith).

They'd be my closest ones for me.

For servicing/warranty work though ... Winford Ford wins hands down.
Will be taking the ute to Power Ford next for it's first lot of servicing/warranty work and will report back on it.

Use to get the Territory serviced at Sinclair in Penrith and had no issues with them ... the late night servicing is very handy at times.

I am going to go to them ... and then get a written waiver that allows the extended warranty to be shifted to other dealers (as the originating dealer has to give the authorisation for warranty work to be done at another dealership ... and this is under the Bluecare Ford factory extended warranty as well).

I'll speak to them nicely and get put my case farward saying that Winford is a lot closer to me (which is true ... it's about 30 min closer to me).

Will see how it goes .. they have to fix a few things they forgot to when they delivered the ute anyway ... so I will give Power Ford at least a chance.
