Default Might be another dumb question.

Since Queensland is getting fluoride in the water, dose anybody know if it affects paint work, metal corrosion or plants? I think there is other states that have got fluoride in the water, I suppose you could answer this.

I didn't know that QLD were yet to have fluoride in their water.

NSW has had it for as long as I can remember. It is such a minute quantity that you wouldn't know it was there. Some people claim to be able to taste it, I for one cannot.

As for paint, corrosion and plants... no worries at all....

Some parts of QLD have had fluoride in their drinking water (mainly NQ) either added or naturally occuring. It is in very low levels, and helps to prevent (but not stop) tooth decay. I for one find it ridiculous QLD hasn't got on board with it sooner (i grew up in an areas of NQ with naturally occuring fluoride so no probs for me LOL!)

The conentration is approximately 0.6-0.7 PPM (parts per million) so way too low to be an issue RE use of the water for anything outside of labratory uses (and some really sensitive chemical plants.....). Probably be more dirt in the water than that by some margin.

I for one am for it and find it hillarious people are going around saying it is unsafe. That is just insane for a whole host of reasons no least of which is that 75% of the rest of australia has it and they are all fine (well apparently!).

I wonder if the people saying that eat fast food, drink or smoke? Because these three have never killed anyone. :hihi:

Yep they didn't have it, but were also considered to have the worst teeth in Australia.

Can't be worse than Tassie. Some families down here only have half a dozen teeth between them.

Apparently they did a study to see if adding fluroide in water made a difference and Qld came out the worst. But not sure how much depth this report went into or if it was bias in any way.

Where I grew up there was only rain water available, I got quite a shock when I tried mains water for the first time when I was 12! But after a while you don't notice the difference.

I wouldn’t worry too much. We’ve had fluoride in our water for decades.

I just washed my FJ yesterday and it still looks as good as new.

Here’s a link that explains a bit about it.

We don't have it yet because everybody in south-east Queensland is a sook. They roll around with bumper stickers saying 'Fluoride is poison - Do your research', I won't drink it becuase one "EXPERT" says its deadly and you'll die if you drink 35million litres of fluorgated water in 7mins.

Everyone is the same, they say 'we won't drink recycled water' but as soon as we start drinking they all forget and life goes on and it will be the same with fluoride.

And the answer to your next question is, yes you do still need to brush your teeth. Theres not enough fluoride in the drinking water to replace your tube of colgate.

I think theres probably more contaminants on the road that stick on your car from everyday driving that do more damage to your car than washing it once a week with a bucket of fresh water. Living near the beach would have the greatest impact

I know alot of young people with rotton teeth. I'm 36y.o. and brush morning and night and I don't have a problem with my teeth. But the young ones at my work seem to have 1 or 2 black teeth when they smile. So fluroide might help them because I don't think they brush enough. I heard all the new speed base drug they take might make their teeth rot. :evil3:
